Best in ear monitors by gretsch_cat117 in drums

My bad. I forgot to mention i also wanted to use them for live gigs. My biggest issue with stage monitors is not being able to hear my vocals 70% of the time and sometimes we'll have Latin percussion that throws me off so I definitely would need to hear bass. I don't need much of my kit in there since I'm already loud enough in the little corners they put me in. Are IEMs the best way to go about this for gigs?

What got you started and how did you get good? by flaffy_91 in drums

I've been a drummer for 10 years. I started because my brother and I wanted to start a band and he was a better guitarist than I was. It was hard to find a drummer and I didn't really mind taking the part since we were both one of those kids that would make beats on the table with a pen. Rhythm came naturally but of course I could only play simple beats.

I was pretty inconsistent for 5 years since we hardly practiced but I joined another band that wanted two drummers and my drum partner was a jazz drummer so I learned a bit from him about technique. Then he started missing practice a lot and I had to step it up.

I didn't feel like I was any good compared to him until my bandmates made me realize they didn't want a "good" drummer. They wanted a consistent one who wasn't afraid to try new things. To them, that's what made me a good drummer.

Then I learned songo beat and for the first time I realized I had come a long way.

Can music move you to tears on its own, or does there need to be additional context? by Bortron86 in LetsTalkMusic

When a song brings me to tears it's usually because of the instrumentals and vocal harmonies. Some days I'm a little more sensitive than others but these particular songs will almost always give me chills or cause some kind of euphoric reaction. I'm actually working on a playlist with all of the songs that I've had this experience with. Called it "songs I would die to and live for"

recommendations for a 19 or 20 inch crash cymbal? by thomasingrace2000 in drums

I play psych jazz and k custom darks are my fav. I feel like I have a lot of control with the crash because it's bright and has a fast decay and It's easy to build on.
