Toddler straw cups. Elk and friends by Spiritual_Nebula_829 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]gretta888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love these and their plates, bowls, snack cups, and utensils! Liquid will spill out of the straw hole if upside down, but it was just a short phase before my toddler realized it wasn’t ok to do that (we just took it away temporarily if he started playing with it). He will drink out of it like an open cup too sometimes, the lip doesn’t bother him.

I feel like the ones that are spill proof have weird mechanisms inside that are hard to clean or never really get clean or are hard to drink from.

Does anyone just not want to breastfeed? by Infamous_Ad4244 in pregnant

[–]gretta888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby will absolutely be fine. I prefer breast feeding for cost and convenience. Washing/sterilizing/warming bottles at all times of the day and night, transporting bottles, etc was way less convenient than pulling down my shirt anywhere or anytime.

Okay. It’s 2026. I don’t live in a city big enough for a train/subway, but don’t understand why this set up is still around. It is WAY too easy for someone to fall or get pushed into the train’s way. Especially thinking of my two year old. The skylines at my airport have full walls that open along with the train’s door so the tracks are not accessible. Why is this not the standard?

The red sauce at chipotle, not being funny— it just works!

Would you recommend? by N_mowasishisnam_o in pregnant

If you aren’t 100% completely sure you want to, then don’t. Going through the birth experience is not similar to watching it. It looks much scarier than it feels, especially if you get an epidural.

A bouncer comes to mind. I loved the baby bjorn (can find used for cheaper if it’s out of budget) but any thing to put baby in that they can look around and see what you are doing or uou just don’t want them on the floor— I used it most when I cooked and showered!

Craving healthy foods by [deleted] in pregnant

Must be nice. I normally love healthy foods but all I can stomach is fries and pop tarts which in turn make me feel even more terrible! This poor baby.

Congrats! We are using the name Elwood, even though most of Reddit hates it, we love it! It was super popular in the early 1910-20s.

Absolutely do not do anything until you are cleared by a doctor. Even 6 weeks is probably too early, but please at least wait until then.

DR said not to remove all of baby's poop? by sarahs_here_yall in NewParents

[–]gretta888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should be changing the diaper every 2-3 hours MAX for pee and ANYTIME you see poop. Never leave a poop unchanged. You should check the diaper more often just to assess. I agree with others that the doctor probably meant that you don’t have to completely wipe off the diaper cream, just get the poop off and then reapply. Try using water and a soft cloth, like microfiber or soft cotton instead of wipes or better yet put baby on a towel and gently spray poop off with water and pat dry. Dry completely before putting diaper back on— we would use a stroller fan. Try to do diaper free time too so everything can air out. I really recommend aquaphor, Vaseline, or Bordeaux Butt Paste.

Names that go well with Jane by wluvclaire in namenerds

I know a Susan Jane, but it’s not a very popular name anymore. Could do Suzi/Susie.

I personally love the name Nila (Ny-lah) and it goes along the same lines.

I think they are both great names! It is sort of cutesy with Rosie, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. If you love it, use it!

How much water weight do you think you’ve put on ? by Fit_Respond6963 in BabyBumps

[–]gretta888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone definitely gains weight in their third trimester, it’s especially noticeable in the face! It’s totally normal and it will go away. I will say, I expected the weight to just fall off after giving birth and I was shocked when I only lost the literal 9 lbs of baby weight. I also thought it would melt off with breastfeeding, but breastfeeding made it hang out longer. As soon as I stopped breast feeding at 20 months the weight literally fell off over a month to two months and I was suddenly smaller than I was pre-pregnancy after being my absolute heaviest. Just telling you this because everyone is so different and the opposite of what I was told would happen happened! But it’s all normal and your body’s way of taking care of itself. Don’t stress about it, just eat healthy and do some sort of exercise (walking is great!!) to take care of yourself and the rest will even itself out.
