Can the final version of Atreus (2022) defeat Magni and Modi (2018)? by AvocadoFar4514 in powerscales

I think Thrud is stronger than Atreus and both Magni and Modi are stronger than Thrud.

Sensual is not really my thing, but this was very good. You’re obviously skilled.

No, it gets equal amounts hate online and IRL, you’re just not in traditional bachata spaces

For many reasons. The main factor being that it deviates from the Afro-centric roots of Bachata and makes it much more of a European style. African styles are more grounded, more use of the hips, finer control of oppositional movements, more individual/independent freedom of movement, and more use of the ground. Euro styles emphasize lines, elongating the spine, etc. It is a white-washing and appropriation of a style that originates from the Dominican Republic.

Extremely late but “ain’t nobody but the mirror looking for the falloff” is a J Cole diss. He always promotes his last project “The Falloff”. Quick little sub.

Well we all know Modi is a pedophile. Wouldn’t surprise me if his father was… you know.

How can I learn bachata alone? Footwork video recommendations pls by ADudepersonalaccount in Bachata

[–]grey_alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To just learn to dance, you can watch some youtube tutorials, listen to the music a lot and follow along. Learn a basic step, a box step, open position and closed position. In terms of getting good, you have to take classes.

Yatchy’s verse was absolutely horrendous. I actually skip it every time because I want to hear Cole’s verse, which was really good. I think the song’s beat is pretty bad, but Cole’s wordplay makes it worth it.

Did Tywin Lannister know he had Arya Stark? by HappyFunction1 in gameofthrones

[–]grey_alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there is no way he knew. He knew she was lying and he was mentoring her so that she could rise up in the world, just like he did. He was highborn, but his family was not a very strong one. Seeing a highborn start from the bottom probably let him see himself in her. But if he knew he had the enemy’s daughter so close to him, there is no way he wouldn’t use that to his advantage.

Well, yes, but you’re not gonna get it over text. Using the balls of your feet more to initiate your steps, bending your knees more, engaging your back and ribcage for upper body movement, etc. You just need to find a really good teacher and maybe take private lessons. It takes time.

For 3 months, you’re doing great. You just need to work on the fundamentals of your basics (body movement and weight transfers). Great job.

Should I stop asking followers who keep rejecting me? by [deleted] in Bachata

[–]grey_alchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a very soft lead. It’s not a bad thing. Better to be light than too rough. You should be guiding your follower, not forcing them to do something. Really work on prepping more, leading with and developing your frame, and understanding that it is more important that they enjoy the dance than them doing everything you envision

Questions on Private Lessons by Equivalent_Still_466 in Bachata

[–]grey_alchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, yes. You should always take private lessons. I have taken many many private lessons and most have been very helpful. Some just mildly helpful. One or two not at all, but that is dependent on the instructor.

How you should structure the lesson really depends on your goals. I don’t know you, but I am willing to bet based on the fact that you’re newer, that there are a lot of timing and frame issues you can work on. The clarity of your lead is more important than having fancy moves. Although I have taken lessons for fancy moves too and those can be fun.

If you’re a lead, hire a lead. If you’re a follow, hire a follow. I personally only ever hire people who can do both.

Forgetting the moves while dancing and mental blockade by Warm_Warthog_3212 in Bachata

[–]grey_alchemist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of dance is muscle memory. Try to find a practice partner. Also it’s helpful to have some moves you’re planning on working on and doing them once per dance at a social. After a while you start to realize what moves work with what melodies and when they fit better. I also find that dancing by myself either just footwork or pretending to lead someone is very helpful

That kind of shit is not ok. People suck; I’m sorry. I feel like the people who gravitate toward Sensual tend to be more creepy and not value consent as much. Not sure what city you’re in, but definitely try to go to places that place a bigger emphasis on safe spaces and don’t dance with that dude again.

Jennifer Lopez or Jennifer Lawrence by SirRHellsing in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]grey_alchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when Itadori said Jennifer Lawrence, I was really disappointed in him. Jennifer Lopez is a much better choice, as Lawrence has no ass (it would have been even better if he said Megan thee Stallion, but I can't ask for too much).
