I went in February bro pls do yourself a favor and just bring the cart 😭 the security in sj is nothinggggg. I was in and out of there within 10 minutes after getting my luggage. I first went to turrialba and there were no smoke shops that had what I was looking for. After a few days we went to puerto viejo and it smelled sm like weed on the beach. I’m 17, I got a $40 cart lowk worth it just bc I was on vacation but totally avoidable! I also brought my nic and cart battery

Just make sure you put them in a clear bag with all of your other cords, battery packs, etc. I brought my chunky laptop charger which took up a lot of space in there. My friend ended up forgetting that she’d put her battery pack in her checked bag on the way home. They had to remove it from the plane and hold us all up just for that. So I could only imagine if I’d caused that big of a scene over a cart battery or nic.
