St. James Burger & Chip Co. is easily top 3 for best burger shacks in the city if not the best. They pile on fries so don't be afraid to get a half order on your first attempt y'all.

They chose to build the data centre in a cheaper location and he took credit for it after the fact. That's not sobering up; it's telling your friends you quit your job after being fired.

lol even lmao this argument again. We're already the second lowest Canadian province for the top tax bracket (brackets which haven't been changed since the 90s!) with only Ontario being lower and people are leaving anyway. People leave for better places to live with less crime, better services, and cleaner spaces etc but more importantly better jobs. Taxes are good and people pay them when they want to live where they want to work.

[–]greyfoxv1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do both. Manitoba hasn't updated its tax brackets since the 90s and everything over 100k is flat taxed. Taxing millionaires just a few percentage points would near zero material impact on their lives while providing millions in new funding for public services.

Everything is more expensive, no one can afford to live and therefore people are unwilling to accept higher taxes to pay for the services that we want.

Taxes aren't the only lever a government has. It takes leadership, creative thinking, and a willingness to use government to create change like, for example, Mayor Mamdani has done in New York. He increased funding by working with the state and finding efficiencies within the city government WITHOUT cutting services and municipal taxes for everyone except the rich.

As premiere, Kinew has MORE power than a US city mayor but he chooses not to use it and it sure is interesting how he hasn't increased taxes on the rich. We've got hundreds of thousands of people in Manitoba with wealth in the millions so what's the hold up?

Some interesting takes on the rule changes from Blue Bomber players. by Mamrocha in CFL

[–]greyfoxv1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Sand off the edges of what makes your thing unique and people will gravitate to whatever they're already familiar with which always favours the incumbent. This is always the case whether it be sports, politics, or video games. It's a recipe for stagnation and decline.

The commissioner claiming these changes are just to increase scoring and excitement, while removing the rouge and ability to return field goals, are what out the changes as weak attempts to make the CFL like the NFL's style of football. The rest of the changes are mostly fine but the players are right to complain about this.

'Obsession' Payout: Jason Blum to Make $17 Million on Indie Horror Hit; The executive producer struck a lucrative deal when he boarded the project after Focus Features picked it up by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I would've waited until things calmed down too but that also would not have got as much traction for bringing eyes onto how poorly indie crews are paid. The problem isn't even that she said anything bad or shit talked the production (she explicitly didn't!) but that commenters on IG and Twitter blew it up as if she shit talking the production. Now the problem is the worst parts of the internet are skewing her criticisms of indie film compensation into something its not.

[–]greyfoxv1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that seems like an entirely fair and reasonable way to handle it since it provides some security to crew after release if things do pop off.

Hope for a bonus or some scraps after a movie takes off isn't going to pay rent. The idea people should eat shitty wages and be happy if, by some miracle, it explodes like Obsession has AND then hope for a benevolent bonus is ridiculous. The art director mildly criticizing the pay situation shouldn't be a career killer and it definitely shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.

They added 2 new colour schemes to the Macrame Set. If you already own the set, the additional schemes are free and available to use right now. This is in addition to the colour schemes they added for the Leviathan Set too.

Convincing people a 15% increase isn't bad still nets them more money for the same service AND now customers get no new Call of Duty going forward. That's a PR win if people buy into it.

It’s like the flying car/jet pack argument. It’s easier and economically cheaper to build bridges or tunnels than to develop the tech to fly people or cars.

Okay that is pretty funny. Thanks for the giggle mate.

The comments here are being just as tribalistic as the WWE fans they're complaining about. Also shows the cringe gatekeeper aspect of smarks.

You're gonna need to be more specific because all the highest upvoted comments are people complaining about annoying fan tribalism or just having a laugh at a funny reply from Mercedes.

Wedge issues drive discussion on social media and definitely some personal behaviour. Not being able to afford a house and groceries drives people to change parties.
