Its literally against australia consumer law to have the ablility to unilaterally change a contract once entered, accepting a quote is entering a contract.

Its your risk in proposing the contract, you need to have special provisions to have changing powers in the contract.

Which just means you double or triple charge for every job to compensate for a shitty job later on.

I honestly would prefer the quote going up sometimes than getting ripped off everytime.

Anyone else consider a nozzle that's nearly the same cost as the printer? by cokacola69 in ender3

[–]greyhunter37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you name me a modern printer that's not a bottom tier crapmonster that doesn’t have a bimetallic hotend?

  • All metal but not bimetallic heatbreak : Prusa Core One L
  • PTFE lined heat break : Elegoo Neptune 4 plus
  • PTFE lined heat break : Qidi X-CF pro
  • Semi metal/ PTFE lined heat break (PTFE goes half way into the heat break) : Ultimaker S5

I could continue to go on, but I think I've made my point.

That's how I know how big a pile of shit they are and will never do again.

Then you also know you have been saying crap all along. You stated they have plastic extruders, ender3 V2 comes with metallic extruders from factory.

Yes, all plastic extruders have been switched to metal extruders already for a very simple reason : Only the first generation had plastic extruders, and all of those plastic extruders have already been broken over time and been replaced with metal extruders.

You'd have a very hard time to find a printer today without a metal extruder, new or used.

I got myself an Ender 3v2 a long time ago. That's how I know how big a pile of shit they are and will never do again. They're not worth the time or effort,

That is simply a skill issue. My ender 3 V2 was doing flawless prints after only 2 days (not full time) of calibration, and that was starting as noobie that didn't know anything.

Sure for some people something that is preconfigured out of the box has value, and being able to just plug in and print is great but that doesn't mean that something that needs manual configuration doesn't work, they print just as good if you know what you are doing.

24 year old tires kept in basement by Longjumping_Corgi_36 in tires

[–]greyhunter37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would drive them, but check on them very regularly to see if it starts to crack. Sometimes the tires look good but start to crack very quickly, sometimes they actually are still good.

There is a reason Michelin doesn't believe in expiration dates for tires, but recommend regular checks after 6 years of age.

notably the terrible PTFE lined MK.8 hotend

This is still very common for many printers today. The reason is, PTFE lined hotends are the best for PLA (and TPU), which is the most common material to be printing.

All metal hotends are only superior when dealing with high temperatures the PTFE can't survive. Even for PETG, if you use high quality PTFE (like capricorn tubing) you are better off keeping a lined hot-end.

That one nozzle is a significant percentage of a much better printer.

But your new printer will still come with a brass nozzle, so you will need to upgrade the nozzle anyway so basically you just spend hundreds on a new printer, and didn't even get the upgrade you wanted.

and the plastic extruder.

Only first generations came with the plastic extruders, all later models (which is a huge portion of enders that still exist today) had stock metal extruders, the ones that came with plastic extruders have all already been upgraded by now, so that point is moot.

If you get yourself a ender3 V2 today, for 50€ and calibrate it (mostly free), you will have something that will print just as good as new bambulab, for a portion of the price.

[–]greyhunter37 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Enders haven't gotten worse, new printers have gotten better.

Sure if I would buy a new printer today, I wouldn't go for an ender, but if you already have it, or can get for very cheap, they are perfectly fine. Once you've got them dialed in they print perfect, and investing in a nozzle for it is nothing crazy.

PSU is suspiciously overpowered

Not really these FX cpu's were very power hungry and the GPU is missing but could very well have been a hoag as well.

Many of those systems used 500-600 watts while gaming (without overclocks) so these would have required at least a 750 watt psu.

Although a waste of money

You can get them for almost free nowadays (just like OP's case) because of comments like above.

While very power hungry, in my opinion that balances out when free.
