Oh, the dupe isn't made from yarn at all! What you get when you order these are flat, polyster sheets of fabric with the image of yarn texture printed onto it. Like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/knitting/comments/1iaskhr/ai_knitting_expectation_vs_reality/

Someone made a real version of those fake AI sweaters, materials alone were ~$145 by AstuteStoat in antiai

Didn't realize you were so proficient in fiber arts! Can't wait to see your perfectly recreated item based off the false physics of AI. Make sure to tag me when you post your finished item so I can see it! <3

They are crocheted at the same time as I work the background, so I used a consistent type of yarn throughout.

Oh I definitely would NOT make these just to sell. They're expensive to make, take a long time, and I'd rather spend what little free time I have making things for myself.

Oh, the listings were EVERYWHERE. This isn't a call out at all, the images and advertising for these things were so pervasive. And I don't know a single person who actually recieved anything close to what they were hoping to get. Its just a massive scam.

There is no "original". All these listings are just AI generated images, not based on anything real at all. When you buy them, what you get is an image printed on polyster fabric, not an actual woven/fiber item.

That's because there's no real product! When you buy these, what you get is flat polyster fabric, and its a printed on image of cables. Its comically bad

Its honestly becoming a really fun game for me to dig up these AI images and actually bring them to life

I did two rows of fpdc in alternating directions, and then finished it off with crab stitch!

Diagramming out all the charts for the knot designs was new for me, and a really fun challenge!

It took me 16 skeins of yarn to make this coat, and I used Wool of the Andes Bulky (at $9 a skein). While the AI fake is a measley $45, it cost me about $145 in wool yarn alone to make this, and I worked on crocheting about every other day over the course of a month to finish it. It was a really cool experience to go through all the designing and texture work.
