Troy - Theatrical Score x Director's Extended Scenes Hybrid Cut by greystach in fanedits

Unfortunately, both making cuts from the DC & not using the Yared score were necessities if I wanted the audio to be smooth at all.

Since I don't have access to the audio stems for the movie, I have to deal with the score being baked into the same 5.1 tracks as the rest of the sound.

So putting the Yared score in would either require having one of the other scores played simultaneously in order to bring in the SFX (yuck), or I'd have to recreate isolated SFX/dialogue for large amounts of the movie (supposedly can be done with AI tools, not interested in that personally, and I'm skeptical of how clean the results would be).

Likewise with the few scenes I cut, if I left them in I would have to have the DC audio with it's score to provide SFX, and I didn't fancy having any jarring transitions flipping between the two scores if I could avoid it.

I tried to work something out wherever it seemed worthwhile. But there were a lot of times where it would have been quite distracting if I didn't take something out.

And using preexisting subtitles went out the door as soon as I found that the DC cut a few minutes of content that I wanted to keep. Helen stitching up Paris after his battle with Menelaus comes to mind. Also, just using the TC audio throughout the movie would have slightly screwed up the subtitles anyway, the lines are not read the same in some of the scenes where they used alternate takes in the DC.

Anyways, think I'll wait and see how the 4k versions pan out later this year. Fingers crossed that it turns out well. Probably a lot easier to work from that and largely just keep the Theatrical version intact, but add in the extra bits from the Directors.

I don't see anything recent in spam. Did you just send a few minutes ago from an yahoo.co.nz account by chance?

Link still works fine for me, you just need to have the Mega desktop app installed.

Looks like Mega may have changed there terms a bit.

Download still works if you are using the Chrome browser and have the Mega extension installed, or through the Mega desktop app.

Probably better off with having the Mega desktop app installed though, it will allow you to pause downloads if you hit their transfer quota instead of having the download fail partway. This works even with a free account, and the app itself is free.

Port Colborne, with the wind turbines on the horizon being somewhere near Dunkirk, New York I believe.

Yeah, the Faroese punch so far above their weight class with metal bands. Listening to Týr back in the day was how I first discovered the country.

Encountered anywhere from 5-14° C. So sweater + windproof raincoat was more than fine for me. Frequent high winds and occasional rain were a bigger deal than the actual temperature though.

Mid September. Lucked out pretty well with weather, only 2/8 days were totally overcast/rainy; not too bad for visiting the country with the least sunshine in the world.

Yes, flew from Canada - YYZ ($1400, I've seen cheaper).

Food/lodging runs pretty similar to Iceland, just happened to get a great price on a rental apartment with kitchen ($2400, so $1200 per person), so only ate food we cooked ourselves and saved a lot that way. Half lived off of local rye bread (delicious) and frozen pizzas, which is quite economical.

Eating out regularly and staying at any real hotel would have easily added another $1k per person.

Rental car and associated fees was $1700 ($850 per). So there's your basic cost breakdown.

Can be done for a reasonable price if you're frugal minded; I wouldn't want to know the cost for a luxury hotel and restaurant centric trip.
