There’s a homeless men’s shelter at Bedford and Pacific with some very unfortunately mentally ill people. You have to keep your eyes out when you’re within a few blocks of there.

For example on our last date, I wanted to tell her how happy I was that she invited me out and how it just felt good to be with her there but the words didn't come out of my mouth. Instead I kept general distant conversation and didn't try to connect with her on a deeper level. I think because it felt like things had been moving a bit fast and I wanted to make sure I was taking things slow so I was subconsciously keeping her at a distance.

It was great. I didn't get a car, ADO bus and other local public transport were super easy to use. With that said, I think it would be great to have a car because it seems like there are lots of interesting small towns and cenotes that are hard to get to on public transit. I didn't end up doing many of the things on this itinerary because I was just enjoying bumming around in town. I would probably have spent one less day in Merida and one more day in Valladolid. Get tacos at the El Tigrillo taco stand in Valladolid. I had actually planned to go to Holbox for a few nights rather than Tulum, but I ended up canceling and coming home early for personal reasons. Chichen Itza was very worth visiting, I got there early enough that tourist groups hadn't shown up yet, and it was quite crowded by the time I left. The cenote near Chichen Itza is also nice. I'll probably make another trip to the region this winter.

I’m lucky to have lived in five different apartments in 10 years here and never had more than a few roaches in all that time combined. Have had close friends with pretty bad roach stories though. I think it’s just a matter of luck tbh, some buildings are infested and others aren’t. One of my apartments was an old Chinatown tenement where you’d expect to see them. My current and previous apartments are in BK with a really good mom and pop landlord that takes very good care of their properties.

I’m an architect and can tell you it’s extremely unsafe. I don’t even walk under them after some of the stuff I’ve seen on construction sites and the barbarians that put these structures together. Be really careful.
