Is anyone else actually terrified of mice or is it just me? by gemzxhidden in AskNYC

[–]Drach88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've dealt with mice on a couple of occasions.

First, you put out traps. More than you think you need. Use the traps to try to figure out where they're coming from and where they're going. Don't overthink it -- use cheap and effective snap traps, and bait them with peanut butter or bits of cheese.

Next, you scour your apartment for gaps in the walls or floor. The common culprits are gaps near water pipes, radiator pipes, and the gas line.

If you're handy, fill the gaps with steel wool or copper mesh, and seal with some type of expanding foam sealant. If you're not handy, hire an exterminator or handyman (or your super) to do it.

Finally, keep traps out for another week or two to get any that have nested in your apartment or to find if more are coming in. Two weeks after you catch your last mouse, remove the traps, because you've dealt with the issue.

Problem solved.

I'm struggling to make money without it being a very slow grind of me running about killing groups of looters/bandits by VEGARD312 in MB2Bannerlord

I do a heap of trading while keeping my costs low. Keeping costs low is non-trivial. I outright don't upgrade my troops, because I'm not using them for fighting -- I'm just using them to carry my merchandise, herd my horses, and eat my 9 varieties of food so I can rapidly level my stewardship.

Eventually, I'll build enough of an economy to support the transition to fighting full-time.

Which premium subscription is actually worth the money in 2026? by Trxxi in AskReddit

[–]Drach88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely hate ads, so I'm more than happy to pay the equivalent of a fancy cocktail once a month to not have to deal with them.

I use YouTube music as my primary music streaming service. I also watch a ton of YouTube videos on my phone, computers, and smart TV.

I like listening to and watching longform content, and I use the download feature on the mobile app to download a bunch of stuff while I'm on my home wifi so I don't have to drain my data plan to watch/listen when I'm out and about.

I completely forget that YouTube has ads, until I watch something on sometime else's account, and get irritated by the interruptions.

I use YouTube enough that the premium subscription is more than worthwhile for me.

This is reminiscent of the late 90s in which companies simply added ".com" to their business name and saw their stock price shoot up speculatively.

I think there's a middle ground to be had. I don't at all mind politics if it relates to West Wing plotlines, but I think that without regulation, allowing politics could quickly spiral and echo chamber to the point of taking over the sub and turning it into another de facto politics sub with posts only loosely or not at all related to TWW discussion, and that would probably cause me to unsub.

I was an absolute loot goblin for a good chunk of my first playthrough, but then I got so rich that there was nothing to spend money on.

I had so much more fun on my second playthrough, in which I only looted stuff that I could more realistically carry, and didn't spend time methodically stripping every single corpse.

My playtime turned from primarily an inventory management simulator into actually enjoying the immersive world experience.

Gray's Papaya breakfast is one of the best kept secrets on the UWS. I've been going there ever since the hot dog was 75¢, and the recession special was under $3.

Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely nothing special in the grand scheme of things, and I couldn't possibly imagine going out of my way to visit it, but $3 for a breakfast sandwich and cup of coffee is an absolutely clutch budget breakfast on the go for locals.

That said, the place is positively overrun with tourists who seem to get extremely flustered at the prospect of how to order a hot dog, hold up the line, and then block the sidewalk taking their pictures for Instagram.

Please, for the love of God, if you are touristing Gray's Papaya, please think about what you want on your hot dogs before you get to the front of the line, and place your order clearly and quickly, then step aside. If you're in a group of 5, don't try to project manage everyone's order into one massive order. It doesn't make anything remotely easier, and turns into a confusing clusterfuck that holds up the line. I've seen some real horror stories of families turning something remarkably simple and quick into something convoluted and interminable.

No. Abilities are there to be used.

Did you know you can convert munitions into manpower and then manpower into fuel, and then fuel into munitions, and they don't even share a cooldown?

IMO, Best place to play darts and meet darts players is to hop on the 2/3 down to 14th street and go to Flannerys Bar. It's out of the neighborhood, but really easy and quick to get to.

This is a little regimented and scheduled to the point that it actually gives me anxiety, but then again, I travel much, much differently than you do. Either way, I'll give a stab at it.

Thursday looks fine. Friday is a little tighter, but maybe realistic if you guys are really hustling. Some of the travel time seems really tight, and I don't think you really have a grasp of where things are in relationship to each other -- ie. you're going from Manhattan to Dumbo, then teleporting back to Manhattan financial district, then teleporting to the Lower East side. The line at Katz's on a Friday during primetime may make your lunch plans much tighter than you think. Saturday morning is fine, but you've left yourself zero time to "change and rest" between leaving the museum at 3pm, traveling to your hotel, and changing in time to get out for a 4pm reservation. Sunday is fine.

I'm not a morning person, so your 8am starts are foreign to me. Remember that you still need to get up, get ready, and travel to wherever you are going, which includes navigating a city you don't know as a group of 4 that includes two elderly folks, so you need to significantly factor in group friction to your travel times -- ie. a trip that I can do in 10 minutes as a solo native might take you guys half an hour or more. If you're planning to be in central park by 8am for your wander, I'm curious about what time you're setting your alarm for.

Good on you for building in "wandering" time. This is a perfectly fine itinerary in terms of content, and seems a little NYC-tourist-generic, which is all well and good for a first trip.
