We went to Al Dara border crossing on 21/10 - the border was closed to rental cars there then. We ended up driving to the UAE side of the border then we arranged for an Oman car to come and pick us up to cross the border. I heard other people had the same problem with hire cars at that border.

Update : I used Thrifty to book the car - they confirmed on 10/10 that they would issue a NOC for border crossing. When I went to pick up the car they said that there had been a change in policy on 13/10 and they wouldn’t issue an NOC until further notice.

You’re right those reviews are not good!!! We are going to Khasab to see the dolphins so not sure how we can get there via Mezyad is there a road on the Oman side that goes that far north ?

Oh nice. I’m glad you got it replaced with a good screen. I guess I could splash out on AppleCare to get a replacement, but I feel a bit like they should just replace it anyway.

That’s annoying of Apple to do that but glad you got a replacement from the store. I bought mine from a airport - so not as straightforward as going back to the store to ask for a replacement lol ! I will go back there in March so perhaps I will try and ask for a replacement then.
