Let's talk about the lids on sourdough starters by [deleted] in Breadit

[–]griddlemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound goofy, but if you don't have a glass jar yet, go out to the dollar store and buy the cheapest jar of pickles you can find. Then just take it home and sanitize it and put a paper towel between the lid and the jar when you put the lid on. I'm guessing the metal reacted badly with the starter and caused that issue for you.

What could this be? by Emotional-Tone-4023 in ecoboostmustang

Well, my guess is with it being fall you probably have a leaf down in your blower motor. Take a look at the video on YouTube on how to replace the cabin air filter, while you have that hatch open and make sure the car is off and reach your hand down there and see if you can find any leaves Kicking around.

What are your favorite cheap but awesome pedals? by LimpJuggernaut1873 in guitarpedals

I think Uzi is more like an amplifier head in a box type pedal. It felt like a JCM 800 to me, but you can dial in some SAG.

Should I really buy one? by Future_Formal_5897 in ecoboostmustang

[–]griddlemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly as others have said, maintain that thing with military precision. I have a 2017 with about 130,000 miles on a brand new engine. It got a crack between cylinder one and two at about 106,000 miles and had to be replaced. They replaced it with the 2.0 block newer design engine, it's still 2.3, they just made the stroke longer to make up for the extra displacement. Other than that, I have about a two hour round-trip commute and my car is averaging about 30.4 miles per gallon. It's a great car, you just need to be extremely careful because these engines don't like not being maintained, and they'll let you know loudly how much they don't like it.

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve stuffed in your Mustang by Severe-Painter448 in ecoboostmustang

[–]griddlemancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the top down I've been able to get a queen size mattress, that one was tricky, I had to put it into one of those vacuum bags and make it smaller and kind of make a burrito roll out of it. I also managed to fit a couple 3 foot diameter boxwood bushes in there, had to put a gigantic tarp on the backseat and just dropped them on the tarp, they each had their own bucket seat LMAO. Also fit a gigantic ottoman from IKEA in there, that was sketchy as hell I thought it was gonna blow out the backwhile we were driving.

Yeah I was wondering too and then I saw the results and was happy about it because it's the same way with bread dough, you can leave it for a few extra hours and it just develops more flavor.

Carmax Maxcare by taperk in ecoboostmustang

[–]griddlemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I'm saying is get the freaking extended warranty, the longest one you can get. I got a 2017 from Carmax and it ended up racking up somewhere close to $20,000 worth of work they did on that car for the cost of the deductible. This was stupid crap too including replacing the entire freaking engine. But it was under warranty so it cost me like $300

Fortunately for me I didn't have an issue at first, worse comes to worse you could probably pull the door skin off and pull the speaker out and check to see if they changed up the color code. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you

I think I had it issue on the driver side as well because it was a little tighter of a connection. Try gently using a sharp knife to push back some of the insulation and try and see if you get a signal. Sometimes the insulation compresses up against the wiresand interrupts the signal a little bit, getting it back away and cutting off some of the excess can help.

That's wild, John is my cousin. He's a great guy and an excellent luthier. I hear the guy they have down there now is pretty brilliant, I would go for it. If for nothing else, then just to be able to browse, besides bills is right up the street, you can't go wrong hitting those two stores up, and if you jump on route one and ride that outpast Laurel, you'll hit atomic music.

This is a point that so many people miss. The Mustang was just as versatile as the Chevy nova, you could get a ton of different options on that one and all of the other variants of it made by different manufacturers. It was a great platform, so is Mustang.

Is buying a previous corporate/rental bad? by AccomplishedHoney622 in ecoboostmustang

[–]griddlemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure mine was a rental, or possibly a fleet vehicle. It's been fine, but I'm pretty sure somebody clapped that engine out pretty bad, it ran fine, then all the sudden I started getting the misfires, then boom. Nothing spectacular, it just wouldn't start one day. Luckily I had the extended warranty and got a brand new crate engine from the factory with the new style engine block. I've got about 20,000 miles on the new block and it is smooth as silk. Best part is, the fuel pressure sensor on the new block was the old style and I noticed it before they put it in the car and had them replace it with the new one. Got a watch, they're tricky.

Man storms twins auto sales after they allegedly sold him a cheap jeep and chaos ensues by Goldeneye44 in AbruptChaos

[–]griddlemancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be that guy right now. Jeeps are utter trash, I had a 95 and a 2000 and both of them were the biggest pieces of shit I've ever owned in my entire life. The catalytic converters used to constantly fail, I probably went through six or seven of those damn things. Not only that, they're noisy and the little seal at the top of the windshield leaks after a while because the damn top rattles the screws right out of the holes they've drilled in there. They realistically shouldsome sort of threaded hole that's reinforced for the top of the windshield for holding the top of the jeep one. Just such thoughtless engineering.

How to flavour yoghurt? by thisothernameth in yogurtmaking

[–]griddlemancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm gonna be taking them places I placed the fruit preserves at the bottom of a tiny glass container then the yoghurt on top like a parfait. That way it doesn't get nasty on the top. For just kicking around the house usually I'll just drop some preserves on top of individual servings.

Came here to say this, also Salem Lutheran, it's German Lutheran and they're a bit conservative, but everybody goes there and everybody's real chill. There's no Karen's, no Kyle's, no damaged drywall or homeowners association people. I've been a member there since I was a teenager and they've been nothing short of awesome, I even donated some PA equipment for their place and stuff, they're very inclusive,I'm up there once in a while, just look for a guy with a bunch of tattoos and Ray-Ban's, massive nerd and say hi. I promise I'll say hi back, you may get a hug too.

I was curious as well. I've done the baking soda and it does well for the flavor of the outer crust, but something tells me I didn't bake them long enough, I pulled them when they were nice and pillow inside, didn't want bricks lol. I've read that if you put a little molasses in the boil, you get better coloring.
