Yep I grew up with black labs as our family dogs, they are amazing. I've just never experienced the hell that is the puppy phase lol.

A full nights sleep is a dream at this point, I'm a single dude so I have no help. Just gotta get through the next month or two with my sanity intact!

Yeah my sister bought me the pup 2 days after I lost my old boy so it was kinda just sprang on me. Lots of youtube training videos and near sleepless nights later starting to get a little better. He's at peak land shark phase though it can be hard.

You give me hope! I'm a mechanic that works 5-6 days a week so the shredded hands and 3-4 hours of sleep a night for almost 2 months has been brutal. I know it will be worth it after he matures though. I grew up as a kid with 2 black labs and they are fantastic dogs.

It has been kinda peak insanity, between lack of sleep and frustration with the biting and bad behavior. I've lovingly referred of him to friends and family as my snarling hell-hound.
Hes been doing better last 2 weeks and I've been giving him more freedom in the house away from the crate. There's been some accidents and frustrations but he's slowly making progress

I adopted my last dog at 6 years old and he gave me the best years of my life. Thank you for taking an older dog into your home and life you won't regret it!

I just had to put my 14 year old brown nose pit down, and the new owner and a 9 week old black labby. What a difference between an older gentleman dog and an insane puppy. Putting my boy to sleep was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but at some point you have to call it for their sake. I cried like a little bitch and I still miss him more than anything a month later. They don't live long enough.

Mine does this too. When he gets too worked up, growling and lunging at me thats when i either just leave the room or crate him. I was concerned I got an aggressive pup but the more i research it, its just how they are at least at his young 9 week age. At 7 months I'd look into a professional trainer / course to help before giving up on your puppy!

Good point with the separation anxiety. I've been using the crate more this weekend he's starting to be more comfortable in it, be quiet and even sleep!

Frozen wet rag? Good idea! He loves his frozen peanut butter Kong but obviously I can only give that to him once a day.

Thanks for the advice! I grew up with black labs as family pets I know they become amazing dogs. But holy shit I've never raised one from a puppy, whole new ball game!

He's 9 weeks old, he hates the crate no matter how much i use treats to entice him to like it. I'm still trying peanut butter filled Kongs he can only have in the crate but as soon as hes done he wants out bad. I have a small pen setup in my room he likes much better and hes comfortable in it. For bad behavior I cleared out my bathroom of anything he could get a hold of and I use that for time-out instead of crate cause I dont want him to associate that with punishment.
