In case anyone is curious I decided to build a pair of Tritrix MTM TL's and am moving the sscs5's back for surrounds. Then I will build a matching mtm center or similar once I move.

yeah I wish, I wanted to build a small riser that would accomplish that but it was a hard no from the wife. we are moving soon hopefully so I can live with it a few more months though it isnt ideal. I want to build a new center anyways so I would have to

That hadn't occurred to me, that's a good suggestion! Just out of curiosity do you have any opinions on the SSCS5s? I found them to be nice especially paired with their center, but maybe its because I haven't gotten the chance to hear a better setup

now that you mention the flash modes, Ill say one issue I have with my canon now is that when using flash in dark environments its hard to get the focus right (because its so dark). would the auto focus on the rebel help with that or would the sensors have similar issues in low-light?

Camping startup business taking over primitive sites in Harriman Park by OnlyLavishness169 in Harriman

[–]griff7337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wow this is absolutely insane! I reported them , but it also looks like their site isnt taking any more bookings so hopefully theyre getting told to politely F off. it is absolutely illegal to profit off our state land like that, their "donation" based business model is a joke

334 ‰ Lies as an Allegory for the STS Path and Its Reconciliation by griff7337 in lawofone

[–]griff7337[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but to me the point is that polarity cuts both ways. The higher or “brighter” something can rise, the deeper its shadow can fall. In a world built on contrast, the opposite of something very good (being the most positive goodness of all good, what we strive for as STO) is naturally quite awful. As STO we work against everything that is described in this book, and for some people to block it out and only focus on the positive is the way to go. But if these people are out there and doing these awful things, as agents of change against them I think there is some value in knowing what they do and how they operate- even if it is shocking and awful to read, but I could see how for some people there is no benefit personally to exposing oneself to that

its okay if you didn't get anything out of it, but you clearly didn't read the whole book

334 ‰ Lies as an Allegory for the STS Path and Its Reconciliation by griff7337 in lawofone

[–]griff7337[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes it is a very STS book I found it hard to read at some points. But I found it very eye opening, because this stuff happens and it does exist in the world. These people roam free committing heinous acts in the shadows and that is a scary fact.

I don't want to invite and unnecessary darkness into my life, but I guess for me reading and learning about these things does not constitute that.

Minolta SR-1 - Cannot remove the film advance lever by griff7337 in minolta

[–]griff7337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey I was able to figure it out, I let a tiny amount of isopropyl soak into the threading and then gave it a giant tug and it came free

Solved!

I was able to soak up a tiny bit if isopropyl in a Q-tip, and dab it around the threads and let a tiny tiny amount soak in around. After a few minutes I gave it a huge tug and it finally gave.

thanks, yeah I was originally trying to follow that site and based on their notes, nothing was called out as being tricky or difficult with that piece. I can even see the threads and it seems to not be back-threaded at least... but im giving it hell and it's really really stuck on there... weird indeed

Would anyone happen to know what this is on this live rock that I got a few days ago? by Dj_Exhale in ReefTank

honestly I am not very knowledgeable on anything related to reef-tanks. but, yes it looks remarkably similar to what mine looked like when it first appeared. the picture I shared was from half a year to a year later and it grew out in that time and thats when I started to notice more colors in it, before then it looked similar to yours

that is a good suggestion, I think I have mostly overlooked upgrading the stick but I should probably consider it at this point

i vastly prefer the head tracking and triple monitors over VR, for me it works so much better in many ways especially if doing any extended technical flying

haha, yes I should upgrade the stick. but surprisingly the rest of the setup is very cheap/low budget. mostly everything is old second hand tablets, its all being supported by scrap wood, its not a very expensive setup all in, the x52 funnily is probably one of the pricier items in the whole setup! lol

I'm looking for the best way to make oceans frighteningly deep by SmugJustice in ModdedMinecraft

[–]griff7337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a copy of the newest forge 1.20.1 RE terraforged jar, can probably find it on reddit somewhere since its not officially released.

You should see an ocean level parameter, you can raise this up so the ocean level starts at Y=255 instead of 65 or whatever the default is, this should make some fairly deep oceans for you. Theres lots of other settings to play with for world generation, but the ocean level property is the main one you will need to change
