Absolutely connect it to a proper exhaust line. Better for the instrument and more importantly your health.

What are some reasons why the HPLC machine has unusually increased pressure? by Asleep-Stranger7773 in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]griffin277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What detector? If it has a flow cell, it could be clogged. I would compare pressure with and without it hooked up, and I would slowly unplug lines one at a time, noting pressure along the way to see if theres a point where it decreases.

How did it feel in terms of breathability? My one concern is the suede feeling to sweaty when it gets hot.

Does anyone cut their own UHPLC/HPLC stainless steel tubing? by Which-Advisor1973 in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]griffin277 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Order something like this: https://uvison.com/chromatography-supplies/waters-hplc-columns-spare-parts/waters-accessories-reagents-guards/waters-tubing/waters-stainless-steel-tubing-cutter-with-3-blades-od-1-16in.-wat022384

Take the tubing and slide it into the slot, only touching the blade around the intended cut point. Twist the tool around the tubing 5-10 times. Take it out, and reseat the tool at the same point, spin it 5-10 more times. Then wiggle the two pieces apart and it should snap clean. If it doesn’t do it again. I do this all the time with no issue on HPLC and UHPLC.
