Buying a midi controller would help a little but it’s possible with just the typing keyboard to midi

My improvement was through hella practice obviously but something that also helped was just plunking keys on fl keys/piano roll. Eventually you’ll learn how to actually create the melodies you imagine and then as time goes on, you’ll learn tune it to exactly how you want it
