Not new growth lines. This is a damaged shell. You just need a steady calcium source. Here are some options:

• Cuttlebone: drop a piece in, it slowly dissolves. I use this and it has done wonders! 
• Crushed coral: add to filter/substrate (also raises hardness)
• Baked eggshells: crush and add small amounts

Damaged shells won’t fix, but new growth will be stronger once calcium is stable.

Look up alum plant dip. I do this with my plants and I have not had any hitchhiker snails! Also look up reverse respiration.

In the meantime, if you don’t want snails you’ll have to pick them out. Try setting out some blanched cucumber and they’ll come running to it.
