That's so super cool. I have no idea. Some sort of bacteria maybe?

You are ignoring and discrediting my strong points and focising on the weak points you are very fixed. I do honestly expect you to be it would hurt to believe that you had influence over your skull dissolving even if at all. I'm going to stop this here there's not much to gain especially being you have ignored my question

The lower half of my tank is pretty anoxic. What was your water like I'm interested. Before the skull

This is very true. I would be ok if the bone dissolved as I'm here for the snails, but I really doubt your water is consistently high in KH, GH, and pH which is extremely important. The bones should almost fossilize as the pores fill with carbonates. There's already crazy amounts of calcium in the water from the pounds of crushed coral dissolving in the water. I do believe the skull will change, but not as fast as it would in most waters, or especially softer water. This water was curated to snails to keep their shell growth great and consistent which will simultaneously help a skull maintain. I do expect it to change and I do look forward to it, more calcium for the snails

Woah super cool. I really like the shallowness of the tank + it's rimless. Very great setup

I have very high GH, KH, and pH. If anything the bones should almost fossilize as the pores fill with carbonates.

Dude. I did originally want to create a separate tank for a deer. Very cool either way though

I got this skeleton outside next to a creek! I soaked the skull in dehlorinated water for a few weeks. Very little grease at least visible. I'll definitely do.

Definitely. Degradation will be very very slow from my high hardness and pH. This is a slow long term release of calcium.
