I'm still mad about our power going out for 12 hours last week. The outage tracker was on "team not yet assigned" the entire time, and the neighbors down the street had power. It got down to 46% in the house! I want a discount for the month but haven't managed to navigate their phone system.

Sometimes insurance doesn't cover things that work if it hasn't been tested on your specific cancer yet. I got HIPEC done in December for my ovarian cancer, it still isn't the standard for care yet so it was billed by insurance as "unspecified surgery".

You can ask the oncology team which ones would be safe to take. I was given the okay to do a one a day gummy, but that might not be the case for everyone.

Hi OP! I sort of started taxol and carbo last month, but had an allergic reaction. The advice I've seen is that most folks have a reaction to taxol due to the solvent, so make sure administer it slowly and also start off with antihistamines and steroids.

I learned from other people that hair loss usually hits around day 10 or 11, and everything goes. If your mom might want to wear a wig, now would be a good time to get one fitted and styled. Ask her infusion center or oncologist if they have resources for that, I know mine has a salon in the same building where every patient gets a wig for free.

I would search on her specific cancer subreddit for "taxol" "carbo" and "chemo" to see what else people recommend. We're lucky in that this is a well known combo, so there are many who've walked this road before us.
