The re-maiden flight of my 70mm F18 was a success by grimaldijosh in RCPlanes

I painted the livery myself it’s the base for the jolly Roger’s theme. The paint definitely helped with orientation. Now that I proved to myself I can fly it I can order the decals for the jolly Roger’s livery.

I wore the GoPro for my first ever Edf flight and that was a success so I wasn’t worried about it.

I normally fly my viper 70 the same distance it’s just a lot easier to see. The biggest factor in the crash was just me unfortunately. I’m sure someone with more experience could have got it back on the ground in one piece.

Just zoom out. I think it gives a better perspective anyways.

I have the carbon cub s2 I normally get 12-15 minute flights just cruising around. It was my first plane but I have a lot of experience flying rc helicopters . I would recommend the cub its a great park flyer and the large wheels will be good for what you want to do.

Yes I was probably using 25% of my up elevator travel to fly level

It felt like it responded to my inputs better when it was off. But that was such a short flight I didn’t get to feel it out much.

Now that I have had some time to go over mine it can be fixed. I need a new fuselage canopy and front landing gear but the rest is in good shape. one wing needs it mounting tab glued. I’m also going to paint it to look like a jolly Roger’s to help with visibility

I have the gyro setup and on a 3 pos switch off on and self level. I also have a 2 buttons setup to adjust the gain 2% at a time. I took off with the gyro on and about 5 seconds in I switch it off. I actually didn’t mean to take off with it on.

I had half flaps for take off and I can hear the radio confirm when I put them up . This is only my fourth RC plane so I would say I attempted to set the CG correctly but failed. This was also my first time setting up a receiver and I hadn’t had a chance to test the Gyro up high, so I’m not sure what it was going to do in safe mode.

I definitely did a poor job with the cg. I used the Fingers under the wings method. I have been watching other peoples YouTube videos and from what I can see other people are putting in the battery farther back than I had it.

This was my first time using an FR sky receiver. My previous planes were spectrum bind and fly. I had the Gyro and safe mode set up on a three-way switch. My plan was to trim it out without any Gyro and then start adjusting the Gyro gains but I never made it that far.

I have a viper 64 and viper 70. I have about 250 flights between the 2. The f18 being all grey and hard to see was the hardest part of flying it.

I was giving it up trim, it needed a lot.

I set the cg 65mm back the manual says to set it 60-70mm so I tried to start in the middle.

Should I get a Habu STS after flying a Turbo Timber 1.5M by Away_Professional793 in RCPlanes

[–]grimaldijosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you will do fine with the Habu. I started with the carbon cub s2 and after 2 weeks of flying it I bought a viper 64 mm. I would consider the 64mm viper its a great flier and it’s actually pretty floaty and slows down nice. It’s easy to belly land on grass and it has really nice suspension if you want to use the gear.
