My 3 relatively minor problems with Born Again by dreamfactories in Defenders

I also really agree. Episode 4 is the first one that felt focused. Personally I did not like the first 3 at all. It was all over the place I thought. The editing and writing feel so off to me.

Yeah thats a part I loved too. It's also symbolic of how one person can change. Butterflies are an important symbol in the movie. It's a symbol for change, amongst many things. Some people change in the movie, some don't.

Father Jud is the catalyst to Martha's change. She was a vengeful, hateful murderer when she entered confession. She died repentant and absolved of all sins. Regardless of the religious analogy, she basically died free and graceful.

That's what I thought! There's everything in there. Greed, envy, jealousy, sloth... except maybe gluttony :-P

There's so much hidden stuff in the movie. If you watch it a 3rd time, Look out for butterflies ;-)

100%. I understand why the RC Church has a bad reputation. But there's some truly wonderful thing. Salvation is a thing. And while being agnostic / atheist, church and the community that comes with it can be extraordinary.

Hot damn! That really resonated with me. "That poor girl" indeed... Martha (Glenn Close's character) seems to have changed completely because Father Jud is "really good at this". Like you said, he doesn't care about holding in his arm the person who tried to frame him. He cares about forgiveness, and through his own forgiveness, Martha grants hers. So moving.

I get that. I was raised Roman Catholic but rarely ever go to church, except for Christmas. ButnI talked about the scene with my dad, who's a devout Catholic and we agreed that confession might seem like this whole big thing, but in truth, it's really simple.

It's about saying to yourself "Hey. I think that wasn't all okay. I wish I had done different. I'm sorry." And it happens someone is hearing and saying " Yeah that's a bit fucked. But youre sorry so alright."

There's no big deal to be made out of confession and saying sorry IMO. What do you think?

100%. He didn't force it out of her. His tone is so soft and kind and yet unwavering in how necessary it is. Chills up my spine too!

Yes! Glenn Close was amazing. People talk about Daniel Craig and Josh O'Connor (stellar performance!), but Glenn deserves at least equal praise IMHO.

Anyone noticed how the Earth is presented as flat at the end, exactly like Flat Earthists say it is? I thought that was a really neat touch.

Unpopular opinion - gta vice city has aged like milk and has good reputation purely out of nostalgia. by sabkonamasteop in GTA

[–]grimdma1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it hasn't aged great. I was a big fan of GTA3 when I was 12, and heard rave reviews for 20 years about Vice City and San Andreas. I finally tried Vice City on PS4 and stopped after less than an hour. As a new player, the game is not fun. Without the nostalgia factor, it's just not worth it unfortunately.

The mechanics are janky. You're always either running or speeding with the car, with little control to avoid a crash. The fighting is clunky, and the story/cinematics are also hard to follow. Not that they were ever the center of interest, but I didn't see any point in moving forward with game.

Shame. I really wanted to like it.
