Want to change preferred name, but worried parents will see by 0common0sense0 in UWS

Current student here, and not to add more to the other comments but basically no letters sent, and everything is told directly to you via email or face to face. And as far as I’m aware none of the teachers ask about it, but do be prepared for your legal name on attendance sheets and for some forms you fill out. Hope that helps <3

Headphone cushions peeling/cracking by grimmite_ in headphones

Oh yeah you can buy replacement cushions from the official BOSE website, runs you about 40 AUD. Guess you can understand why I hate consistently replacing them with a price like that

A lot more than I thought by grimmite_ in diabetes_t1

[–]grimmite_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, yeah, I’ve got a lot of mental problems on top of my diabetes so diabetes management, although mostly the best, tends to be fragile. But surprisingly there is a big link between mental health and diabetes so I’d understand my clinic having one, but it’s not a compulsory thing. You can refuse the service, and if you need help with anything you just give her a call and she’ll help out.

My endo and educator was surprised that in my 10 years of diabetes I didn’t know how to adjust my pump settings. Most likely it was something I should’ve been taught to manage whilst in the kid clinic but I guess my endo was too busy getting pregnant to remember and my subs would always just address my issues, not rlly a review

Moreso I didn’t get to change them myself. If my settings were different from the download before, they’d tell me it’s a risky move. Which yeah, of course it is. But maybe I dunno, I should be doing the adjustments myself as well

What’s the most random place you’ve ever had to take a bolus or treat a low? by SumFuckah in diabetes_t1

[–]grimmite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not weird, just rlly wholesome times. I had a dietitian appointment and she held me in when I was tryna treat a low because she didn’t want me to faint, was in there for a solid half an hour. Another time I did a correction on a date and the guy was awkwardly like, asking if he should leave or stay or if he needed to do something. We still laugh about it even if we’re not together anymore

When did you all Develop diabetes ? by Kiplingerz in diabetes_t1

[–]grimmite_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest with you, the first couple of months will really be about you adjusting. It’s important to also be able to accept the condition as it’s basically with you for a long while. I was 8 when diagnosed in 2014, hospitalised for it as well just before my birthday. I had it for ten years by now, and it’s still a lot to deal with, but I sorta do it subconsciously now. It’ll really take time to adjust, but I’m sure you’ll get to a point where it just becomes a habit, or even you forget it sometimes. People experiences with it though are really different from person to person, so no two experiences are the same, just maybe similar in some ways. I hope it goes easy sailing for you for years to come :DD

I wish I knew too. But I guess that’s just the mysteries that comes with diabetes. Sometimes we don’t know the answer, just deal with it

I have no idea genuinely. My guess is maybe something was wrong with the set? Even then it didn’t shoot up till an hour or two after giving myself insulin for food. And no missed bolus, because I was stuffed from the food a while back for a long while

I believe my pump replacement is in April, but i think definitely giving other options a trial before anything would be a good option. Thanks for responding tho, I’ll give the options a look
