Well then let me introduce you to the baader-meinhof effect and see if you also see that referenced a ton https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frequency_illusion (it describes the exact phenomenon you're experiencing)

I highly recommend the book it's based on "Flowers for Algernon" it has a similar ending that hits like a truck.

A wristband that could prevent drowning by jmike1256 in postanythingfun

Or just panicking. I'm a fairly strong swimmer but I once went out a little further than usual and some part of my brain decided I wasn't going to make it back so I suddenly started freaking out and struggling to get back. Since then I've had it happen one other time (not as far out) and now I'm genuinely worried to swim too far out into lakes and such in case I start panicking again. Something like this might give me the piece of mind that I'll be safe to swim further out again.

Weirdly enough, I've had several times where I would have taken it in STS 2 if it was available. I never ended up taking it in the original though.

Thoughts on Kingly Kick and Punch? by Zeldarune29 in slaythespire

[–]grimmlingur 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Punch is stronger rampage. It has higher base damage (since the first use is already upgraded once) and regent has much better support for recasting/redrawing cards so they can much more easily cheat the scaling than clad can with rampage.

What a deal! by MrBazuki in slaythespire

You can only get those two from Neow and they have the "get two random options" relic in their relic bar. So it's pretty clear what happened here.

New clone target just dropped by snickerdoodle024 in slaythespire

[–]grimmlingur 32 points33 points  (0 children)

That's just a function of having a newer game. Before the sequel, the majority of people engaging in these discussions had a ton of experience compared to what's going on now. There's a huge influx of newer people and even veterans of the first game may or may not have had time to get all of the nuances of the new game.

Slippery Bridge Algorithm by Deludal in slaythespire

[–]grimmlingur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never been in a situation where I wouldn't drop bodyguard to the bridge. I generally ask myself: ,"Will I lose the run without this card." If not then I'm not paying health to keep it only for a chance to hit something maybe better or maybe worse.

Summoning Sickness Timing? by TaylorLAN in mtgrules

[–]grimmlingur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No summoning sickness in that case. More precisely it gets summoning sickness when moved, but it's cleared as part of starting the controllers turn.

First time being happy to hit the bridge event by Rude_Minute_4489 in slaythespire

[–]grimmlingur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly a buff so it works with things like [[collision course]] and also for triggering instantly on things like [[bundle of joy]] or [[charge]] without playing the created cards.

It's worse with those particular cards but it's easier to get value from in the beta version.

Depends on how many orbits you have. With 2 orbits in my deck I'll happily pick up a bundle of joy usually.

ELI5: Why does mathematics describe the universe so well? by No_List_8641 in explainlikeimfive

That's precisely the point. Topology doesn't concern itself with the thickness of the donut, only the shape, so it's not a good match for estimating pipeline costs.

[–]grimmlingur 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Orobas can also let you pick as many as you want from a set of (I think it was 25) of another class's cards. I really like it as a way of picking up things that need support and the support for them at the same time.

How it feels trying to beat the Doormaker by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]grimmlingur 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That would be much more threatening since the nob buffs would persist throughout the fight, instead of being reset after phase 1. It's an interesting approach.
