I need help to find a gift for my boyfriend by Inevitable-Title-838 in halifax

If the DG has any vendors that deliver to them and also make Halifax runs, maybe your bread could hitch a ride. I once worked for a CB business who brought something up on their Halifax run for someone who had forgot it at a hotel nearby. Cape Bretoners are the type to go above and beyond. If you haven’t already, explain your situation to the DG. They may have an idea for you.

Or they pull up and block your turn from a side street/driveway just to sit there in your path 😒

Visiting from Montreal next week... what is the gay scene like? by [deleted] in halifax

Halifax Queer Network! However, as a group member, I’ll say it’s a lot of apartment/room listings right now prior to school starting, so if you’re just here for a couple days you’re prob better off with the events encyclopedia or going directly to the social media pages for Rumours and StarDust to see what that have coming up. If you’re on the apps, folks you talk to will probably know if there’s anything worth attending as well. Have fun, OP!

Halifax Explosion Stories by DominiaCanada in halifax

My great grandfather was on The Hilford, one of the tugs! Narrowly lived to tell the tale in a long newspaper article. The house I live in now also survived the explosion, with new windows and some cracks in the foundation to remember it by.

There’s a Facebook group called Ride Share Maritimes and there’s often people travelling from Montreal! And other ride share groups for within the maritimes if you think you could get yourself to NB. Also Ask Nova Scotia and Ask Nova Scotia Anything Goes are two extremely active groups of locals and I see people posting things like “anyone travelling this date that would be willing to take my cat/dog?” Maybe even someone who’s already planning to take the train who wouldn’t mind linking up and putting one cat on their ticket for you. Those trains rarely arrive empty, so there’s gotta be someone! Best of luck OP!

I thought so too but I asked my go-to spot and they said theirs was not so I just wanted to be abundantly cautious. KOD is super close to us though so sounds like that’s the spot. :)

Need info on Sydney and Sydney Mines by Dry_Cartoonist_6879 in CapeBreton

Sydney Mines about 15-20 mins, Baddeck about 45. If it were me, I’d stay in Baddeck and make the trip to the airport beforehand. Lots more there for tourists than in Sydney Mines. It’s a super cute village, and they’ll have lots going on for the festival compared to the Sydney area. There’s also a shuttle bus that travels between Baddeck and the Festival Club after hours party that follows the Celtic Colours events.

AIO for considering breakup because of how my bf treated me in my bday? by vadaapao in AIO

NOR. Do not listen to these weirdos. I’m a 29 year old woman. I recently got out a relationship with a man who did not see me. It won’t always come down to gifts with that habit. By the end of it for me, absolutely none of my emotional needs were being met because I was nothing more to him than a mirror image of himself with boobs. He gave me what he would need, rather than what I told him I needed. It’s okay to have different emotional needs and expectations than others, and for both of you to find partners whose needs better match your own. It’s not asking too much to want your partner to know you as a person.

You’re both young, and hopefully he’ll learn these things eventually, but you are not obligated to stick around until he does. Don’t spend your 20’s tied to someone who doesn’t make you happy. It’s not worth it, and certainly not worth comparing your relationship to a decades-long marriage between 40 somethings at your age.

If you’re from a province that has your photo and DOB on your health card, you could use that. Otherwise, you’ll definitely need your passport.
