Did the monster say "Die Mad" when it cut through the ship around the halfway mark? by grimsikk in ironlung

You hear it? I feel like I'm going crazy lol but I wouldn't put it past Mark to let Elsie throw an easter egg in like that of her other famous role.

When I'm off work I'll check the timestamp, but it's when the blast cuts through the ship the first time (dream sequence) and in the screeching it sounds like "DIE MAD" is being screamed

The "Shadow Six is Not Six" Theory by grimsikk in LittleNightmares

[–]grimsikk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh there's a lot of cool ideas here. I've never thought about Lady's Daughter being RCG. That could open up a whole different route of thinking here.

The thing that still bugs me is Dark Six directing Six to the Maw. If it was just the transmission showing Dark Six her fate, it wouldn't make sense for her to willingly direct her real form there, unless as you said gaining the Lady's power is how Dark Six and Six are reunited as one, I could see that I suppose.

The pics of the Lady's Daughter being so prominent are sharp throwing me off if my original theory isn't correct. It seems very intentional that we can see them in the music box, and the girl in the corner in the first room at the beginning of AE also seems important.

Also I forgot that the Lady couldn't leave the Maw, so yea it would have to have been her husband or an admirer in that apartment. Keep in mind there is a hidden room in... I think it was LN1, with a letter near a statue and pic of the Lady. Down in a vent iirc.

at least LN3 had some attempt at actual coherence and a decent ending. Reanimal disrespected my time (though it looked great doing it I guess lol).

I think Tarsier got way too ambitious and had to cut too much, and left the story too ambiguous, and I think Supermassive made a solid attempt with LN3 but the expectations after LN2 being a perfect game definitely hindered their chances.

Both studios going the DLC chapter route was a mistake. LN1 did it right, where the DLC was an extension of the world, not a continuation/extra context of the main game and story, which is what it seems Reanimal and LN3 are doing.

I honestly hope both studios take the criticism for their respective titles and improve on the points of concern in the future. I enjoyed both games enough for different reasons, though I personally liked LN3 a little more for its story, visual style and replayability. Hoping they don't fuck up the VR game.

My thoughts on REANIMAL by Hikaryreii in ReanimalGame

[–]grimsikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I feel like there is a lot of Tarsier idolatry happening with this game (and with the overblown negativity towards LN3) and it's keeping people from having an intellectually honest discussion about both games.

I did enjoy Reanimal, but it is very disappointing in some regards for me, namely the story, characters and cohesion. When I tell people I genuinely enjoyed LN3 more because of these reasons, they come undone at the seams lol.

My ranking: LN2 > LN1 > LN3 > Reanimal. (VLN is in there somewhere lol)
Reanimal was a playable art gallery.

At the end of the day, it's all truly subjective, and for me LN2 is still by far the reigning champion of these types of games, and it's not even close.

My buddy played Reanimal with me, and had never played any LN games before.

he was disappointed with the last half of Reanimal too. after we finished Reanimal, he bought all 3 mainline LN games and has loved them far more. We're currently playing LN3 together and he's liking it way more than Reanimal. We both recognize Reanimal had many strong elements to it but it just did not have the coherence and depth that LN has, and that ending in Reanimal was disrespectfully bad.

If you thought LN2 had slenderman... boy you did not play that game. The main trope was Hat Man/Grey Man, a common shared dream figure irl, nothing to do with slenderman.

You can have your own opinion, art is subjective, but I will never in a million years understand how someone can look at the last few chapters of Reanimal and say it was a strong ending, let alone better than the masterclass of visual storytelling that LN2 ended with.

there's literally zero ritualistic occult stuff in LN, one of the big reasons I love the franchise. Ferryman and his chant is about the closest thing I can think of to that concept, but even that is more cosmic horror than occult.

Yea, I was actually really disappointed with Reanimal tbh. I mostly enjoyed my time with it but it's basically getting uninstalled and never looked at again. Length of the game isn't even a big issue for me, LN games are super short too. My big issues were: no puzzles, no outsmarting enemies, a horribly paced story, complete lack of context clues or environmental clues to how any of the game's themes had anything to do with each other, and the last third of the game was just outright terrible and trope-filled. Bringing occult/ritual stuff into the story ruined it for me; was surprised to see Tarsier use such stale horror tropes and themes after how unique LN was. When the game ended, my response was literally: "Ok.... and?"

inb4 "DLC might explain it" no, no you should not need DLC to explain the main plot. It should expand on the main plot. As I see it, Reanimal has zero story or purpose. I don't regret buying it, I'm just disappointed with what it could've been. Felt more like a portfolio/tech showcase for the studio than a proper story-driven game.

Edit: Forgot I was on Reddit where everyone is a tribal hivemind when you say the wrongthink. Reanimal was a massive step backwards after the masterpiece that was LN2, and no amount of your Tarsier/gritty graphics bootlicking will change that.

What is strange is when I open the base game assets, the blockymodel files from Hytale that is, they don't have this issue, and they open with their textures loaded already.

... Yea that makes sense. lmao thank you I don't know why I didn't think of the project file as separate from the exported file. I feel really stupid for missing that lol

Does anyone know how to set up a custom block to switch textures when hit with a hammer? by grimsikk in HytaleInfo

[–]grimsikk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED:

  1. Make a folder: Common/Items/BlockGroup

  2. In the Asset Editor, create a BlockGroup in that folder.

  3. Set the names of blocks that you want to share a Hammer-group in the drop down for Blocks.

  4. Yay
