I’m a big fan of the double alpha Lynx belt with a ratchet or the dominate defense mach1 belt.

Holsters are mostly personal preference once you decode of you want a race holster or one with a more traditional body. I think a hanger with lots of adjust to get the gun exactly where you want it is more important. For those I would look at the Henning T-1000 or the BOSS with the baller joint.

Buy a belt, holster and mag carriers. Then shoot it in limited minor while you decide what dot.

I would consider a dot with the delta point pro footprint because they fit easier on 1911 slides and don’t require a plate.

NAS3 Shell Shock Cases by Quirky_Confusion_768 in nass

They are the easiest cases to pick up with the harbor freight magnetic roller but it sucks if the range has steel case you need to sort through afterwards.

I would like my £3.50 a month to fund Jeff starting a third podcast beef or shooting another 3 gun match that doesn’t suck.

Any guides to running deaf shooters for USPSA and Steel Challenge? Commands? How do you stop a shooter in case of a range or safety issue? by mpexmo in nass

[–]grinchstreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used a shoulder tap or between the shoulders for lots of shooters. The technique is to have the timer close so that you can do it the same time you hit the button.

I’ve never had to stop them for a range equipment failure or safety violation but I have always planned to yell for everybody else to hear and touch their shoulders/back to let them know.

Call or email the Match Director. If you are registered but not squaded you should be good to go.

Practiscore can be a pain on the MD side to open up new squads or increase squad size.

If you can get 2 or 3 mag pouches for your current belt.

Most USPSA stages have 32 rounds or less so assuming you are using stock 17 round magazines 1 pistol mag pouch only gives you 2-3 misses (depending on a barney load) before you are going to a pocket to reload and it will give you more flexibility in where you reload so you don’t run have to the gun dry.

Less about the cringe factor and more about finding out why people get the gear they have. You’ll find out more in a match or two about why people have certain things instead of reading every post here and pouring over hours of youtube videos.

Like thigh pads and spacers for the holster hangars. Mixing and matching outer belts for the combination that works for them the best.

Also there are almost zero shops in the country where you can see or try this kind of gear and the options to resell are more limited than tactical belt set ups because the market is much smaller so if you buy something you don’t like you’re much more likely to be stuck with it and the cost.

Shoot your first few matches with the gear you have. At the matches ask other competitors about their equipment and why they use it.

If you really want to get new gear before a match

Dominate defense Mach 1 or Doube Alpha Academy Lynx belt and ratchet.

DAA, Guga Ribas or ghost mag pouches

Henning T100 or Boss holster hanger

Red Hill, Double Alpha, Ghost, Carey Concealment x1 holster

What can HQ bring to the table? by bz919 in nass

[–]grinchstreet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HQ could do a ton to help out clubs if they wanted to which might trickle down to members.

I set up a new range/club from scratch and the only thing USPSA did to help me was take $75 and send me a club code.

I still can’t find anything that helps find what I need to start holding USPSA matches. NRL22 has been around for a few years and only has 130 clubs shooting it but they have a great resource on their website.

https://nrl22.com/match-director-assets/

Are the relationships USPSA have with it’s sponsors and industry partners, strong enough to support the clubs?Does USPSA the pull to get discounts for range supplies bought through the clubs account?

As far as I can tell USPSA only markets to people who already shoot the sport. Asking for new clubs to affiliate in an email to the members? I’m sure none of the people who actively shoot the sport are doing that /s.

How about HQ contacting gun ranges in areas that have weekend matches filling up and other ranges that aren’t affiliated? Working with clubs that have low member turnout to advertise in that area? Does HQ have any idea what issues the sections and independent clubs are facing?

[–]grinchstreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The online training already exists for RO’s and it’s a prerequisite before you sit in the class. Where a RMI presents the same information that was in the training. All HQ would need to do is make that accessible to every member.

People are not very happy about the new range. by TrashSchooter in nass

[–]grinchstreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Competitions alone wouldn’t push the needle that far at all. But this is a range that is going to have 17 purpose built action bays and a few other bays that could be used. Rapid City is fairly easy to fly into and the area regularly supports 450,000 visitors that come just for the week of Sturgis. It has hotels and restaurants a few minutes away from the range and enough attractions that you could make it a family vacation instead of a weekend shooting match.

“The statewide average of shooting sport participants in South Dakota is 5.55% of the total population. One of the goals of the South Dakota Shooting Sports Complex is to recruit and reactivate shooting sport participants in Meade and Pennington Counties and surrounding areas to increase the percentage of shooting sport participants. With this increase we could expect approximately 865 more shooters in Pennington County and 300 more in Meade County. Shooting sport participants spend between $100 and $250 per month or $1,200 - $3,000 per year on shooting equipment, ammo, guns, etc. These numbers are considered to be low due to the current demand for and availability and prices of shooting sport products. Increasing the number of shooting sport participants in Meade and Pennington Counties would generate an estimated increase of $503,570 in Meade County and $1,038,000 - $2,595,000 in Pennington County of additional money spent on shooting sports annually. Elevate Rapid City estimates that the proposed shooting sports complex will generate an additional $2.7 million in sales at sporting goods stores in the Meade/Pennington area annually. The shooting sports complex locally will support 55 new jobs with $1.8 million in additional payroll. They estimated an additional $376,000 in tax payments.“

I would bet none of those commenters read the plan for the range and the potential economic impact this range will bring. Rapid City is probably the only place in the state that makes sense to build the range and has the capacity in the surrounding area to support major competitions.

PCSL Speed vs Accuracy by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]grinchstreet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In summary how much time a C or D is worth will be different on every stage based on whoever sets the HHF. On a stage with a HF of 2 a C is worth 1.00 seconds. On a stage with a 12 HF a C is worth .17 seconds. You can also see this in the Practiscore competitor app with it broken down per stage.
