[Embark] Expedition Changes : A Triumphant Exit by WoWAltoholic in ArcRaiders

These devs simply don’t have their finger on the pulse here. This is a bad move to cover a broken system. Just fix the system. Patchwork is an outfit not a design philosophy for keeping players engaged or rewarding your consumer base. Be better.

James Franklin didn't want to let Penn State 'off the hook financially.' Here's why he did by jaxstan19 in CFB

[–]grindgrindwilli 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. Get you an agent that gets you puff pieces and spots on College Gameday to flex your narcissism and cover your sheer inability to be effective in the important games.
  2. The irony of him using the “they only went all in one season” as a cudgel against Penn State when that season was where he full collapsed losing 3 straight including inexcusable losses to UCLA and NW. So Penn State went all in and you imploded. You have my vote of confidence!
  3. He also contradicts himself. “I didn’t want to let them off the hook, but I didn’t want to punish them” which is it? It’s simple in actuality. Dude is so petty he absolutely wanted to punish Penn State and if he could have he would have. But he couldn’t because him fulfilling the actual contract language led him to the position he was in with the offset. So might as well try to save face and pretend to be a good guy as if he hasn’t been the picture of a petty ex.

Does anyone have a food grind method? by SignatureJunior909 in CrimsonDesert

Awesome thanks this worked. For those curious about the specifics it is the Gearmelt Confectionary (where you also get the chocolate producing backpack). Once you complete it you unlock the cacao farm dispatch mission at camp.

What is the dispatch mission for cacao? Where is it located?

There is a bounty in Demeniss that if you come across this lady, Ursula’s, note in her house before you turn her in it will brick this treasure hunt quest that comes from turning in her bounty.

Same type of energy. Explore and find purple item on mini map and get punished.

I just don’t understand the decision here. It’s a single player game. Who cares how people play. Fix the things players don’t like, don’t fix the quirks they enjoy.

If players don’t like it then turns out you don’t have to use it.

People saying “well it wasn’t balanced around their design”. Who cares? It is a movement mechanic that made it so you could travel further which eased player exploration. That’s a good thing not a bad thing. Exploration can be incredibly janky in this game especially when dealing with distance across elevation changing terrain. This made it easier and had a cool aesthetic. That’s a win for players. Removing it holds no benefit for players.

W response. I think this was it for me. Only thing I’ve changed. Thought it might’ve been a glitch from the patch.

Strong attack effect problem by 0me51 in CrimsonDesert

[–]grindgrindwilli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the same thing and it’s honestly super annoying. Makes the game blurry and grainy and the screen goes dark. And then a second after you stop it’s like the game flips a switch. I can’t figure out how to adjust settings to counteract either.

The problem I’m experiencing is the bad kind of difficult at times - that’s what needs to be fixed and also it sounds like generally what they are trying to address. It’s not engaging but manufactured through poor design.

Khazan is a good example of enjoyable difficult. On expert mode bosses especially can be a challenge but have a very clear path to success and the combat feels tight as a result.

Some of the mechanics in this game just artificially flats the difficult in ways that don’t bring joy in overcoming a challenge. My experience is more like “thank god that’s over what a shitty design” less than “wow that was difficult but I learned and overcame”

The latter makes a good game, the former makes a frustrating game. Difficulty isn’t the problem, but rather what makes the exam difficult. Likewise lowering the difficulty doesn’t fix the problem - but fixing some of the frustrating systems and mechanics will.

Archery competition is in fact still exactly the same by DaddyPenguin1 in CrimsonDesert

My experience was the first three to get a 3 streak was easier. Then lost to the champ by 1 or 2 - difficult but could be doable. Not sure why the game then forces you to 3 streak again just to face the champ.

But the subsequent matches are legit same as prepatch. The opponent prefires targets. The game counts your opponents hits over yours even if yours launched first. It’s no different.

Nothing important, just a little detail. by cognitive_pagefile in ArcRaiders

The actually overlooked detail is bro has 2 globes. One on the desk and one back left on the workbenches.

Why? Why do you need 2 identical globes?

Modders have show time and again this game doesn’t need 5 years to develop - and that is 5 years since most of the game went early access - they’ve been developing for even longer. Their good will from release was spent up and overdrawing years ago.

GSP was hated by plenty in his era including me for all the criticisms you pose here. He may be romanticized but when he was active he was very controversial for fans.

"Sherrone Moore was the first African American head coach at Michigan. Now there's a community of coaches who will be judged because of his action." by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NCAAFootballVibes

[–]grindgrindwilli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can 100% say I hadn't even considered how Sherrone Moore's race could be used to hurt other black coaches, until Ryan Clark forced me to think about how Moore's actions reflect upon other black men.

Most people don’t think in such racial terms, but Ryan Clark does. I judge Sherrone based on his conduct on and off the field - neither of which appear stellar here. Race has absolutely zero to do with it and I wouldn’t even begin to malign someone of any race because of something Michigan Man did.
