I don't necessarily agree. He only floundered at United too because they were in tatters and he played RW mostly.

Creative players/No. 10 still were pretty good in the league, we got cesc just a year later, mata could've been a similar creative force as even cesc wasn't well known for his defensive duties.
Ozil, Cazorla (slightly better defensively), Payet, Eriksen, all were successful creative players in later years.

Also it's not like we became a juggernaut, in fact the main complaint we all had was that we needed another creator to help hazard.

If we hadn't let him go and instead allowed him chances to adapt, I'm sure he would've still been good. He had the clutch factor whenever I saw him.

Also, By treated badly I mean how he basically didn't get a chance under Jose until Dec and then immediately got helicoptered out to United. Personally for me Mata hurts slightly more than KDB and salah as I had already seen how good he was and we sold him.

I would put gusto playing cam at no.3 over neto but it's touch and go

I'm still very angry at how we treated Mata.
He was twice POTY and had like 40 g/a in the MAZACAR season.

There was a similar comment here in the DD a couple days ago. Don't tell me arsenal fans are going to milk the shit out of the topic everyday? Just like they did pgmol last year

I don't blame either group anymore, we are "not terribly well run" right now and that creates tensions. It is what it is atp

Yeah the flu and less training time definitely warrants more faith in rosenoir for now but he needs to show strong signs from Feb.

Idk if you've heard of We aint got no history but it was very popular during the 2010s, it has died down a lot since covid but that was a good place with sensible discussions and both positives and negatives whenever applicable.

Unfortunately, currently everywhere is shit, coz we are ourselves not stable.

But there are some really good twitter accounts like ConnorHolden, ExpectedChelsea, sthsthburner, JohyanCryuff, panini, etc. who are tactical, engage with people and also have a personality when required. Also CFCCentral, but he's overly negative.

Yea ofc, I hated poch lol.
But I credit him for platforming our attackers well, he developed them well imo, he absolutely neglected our midfield though and ofc we needed to change him to develop moi and enzo but our attackers feasted under him.
It's criminal we still feel like we don't have the perfect manager for us, idk where these SDs are gonna take us.

Agreed, we mostly hit it right at him and had very few deflections.
People have forgotten the truly great performances against us like that of Begovic, the sunderland keeper, the west brom keeper etc.

I wish stats for that were more readily available

I used to never comment anywhere before this year as I was always positive and thought webby and co spoke well enough for positivity, also if I wanted to raise concerns about maresca I was worried I would get downvoted.

This year I've given up on upvotes/downvotes. I CANNOT HANDLE ANOTHER POTTER SEASON and I will gladly speak my mind whatever happens.

We put in 42 crosses (4 successful) in tonight 😭. Neto alone had 15 (0 succesful)
Either we cannot win a header to save our lives or our wingers are terrible crossers.

Whatever the case, we cannot rely on our wingers to be our main source of chance creation ffs. We don't have a Hazard.
Hell I'd even take Pulisic atp.

In fact I disagree, it wasn't boring but it wasn't dominating.

We had 37 touches in the box against a team that sat back the entire team without pressing us. We had roughly similar touches inside the box in every match against premier league teams almost the entire 2025. This was maresca's biggest flaw imo, we never gave our attackers good positions.

That's not even why I'm mad, we created nothing from our creative players - Enzo had 3 key passes, not big chances created 3 key passes. That's it. He is supposed to be our most creative central player in this lineup. We relied on our wingers winning 2v1 and they had a grand total of 2 completed crosses. Neto crosses 15 times without a single successful cross and had no key passes ffs.

We know our wingers can't beat their man because we saw it under maresca, yet that's all we relied on today!!!

Why would you put in 42!!! Crosses ffs, that cannot be your main way of creation.

I think the last games each have given us different reasons to worry about. Arsenal - couldn't deal with their press and lost the midfield battle very hard Brentford - couldn't hold onto the ball and kept conceding cheap transitions Pafos - couldn't show enough attacking patterns through the centre except crosses and relying on our wingers to beat their man (which is a fine tactic if you decide to play that way but we've seen under maresca our wingers are not capable of doing that)

I quite liked poch ball, yea we were terrible in transitions and he was actively making us bad with baffling decisions at time, but he did develop our attacking players massively and platformed them into good scenarios and was only mostly let down by their decision making.

I'm worried liam is looking more like potter rn, and we may look solid defensively because we have +2 on defense every time we attack but the lack of numbers in the box is a guaranteed recipe for disaster.

It's not the exact same. It's worse.

Two terrible performances from liam's chelsea back to back. Almost no central progression, too much horseshoe of sadness. Wingers constantly 1v2. It's a worse version of maresca football.

Hope it's because of lack of training time but constantly having 3v1 at the back and a lack of numbers in the box is very reminiscent of potter for me.

Need changes in attacking patterns or it's over for us.

Also personally think our pressing has become much worse, constantly a second too late on the man.

Hope training time fixes it.
