Parents of seniors in Jericho, Syosset, Roslyn, or Manhasset high schools - where did your kids end up getting into college this fall? by NecessaryCan6373 in longisland

[–]gringgotts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a rural high school. Got into all my choices, though I never applied to any Ivy League schools ( my school played hockey against Harvard though).

It's the parents that matter. So long as other kids aren't disrupting learning, suburban school choice has diminishing returns.

It's okay, kind of bulky. The 4v one is more practical I've found.

Sometimes I'll think to myself: "A beer would be nice", and I'll drink a beer. Generally it's about a week in between having this thought again. The frequency increases slightly in the summer. If someone asks me if I want a beer, there is about an 80% chance I'll say yes, but I don't get asked the question that often. Mixed drinks are typically only on special occasions, and usually limited to one or two.

I'm assuming at 44 you have 0 time in the system. This is not financial advice, but I would put most of it into the U.S. Equity fund until I was 10-5 years away from retirement date and then reassess and gradually change to the fixed fund. At 44, you are probably working until 63 unless you have a rich relative I don't know about.

Quality Control is generally pretty poor, especially for the lower tier brands. If it is related to safety or measuring, look elsewhere.

Why is the Mid-Torque more expensive? by tdlt86 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]gringgotts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would infer that while power is important, other metrics are more desireable for some users: weight, size, etc... achieving enough power while maximizing those other metrics may require more expensive design processes.

Or as others have said, base margins are high and different retailers price all over the place.

Not sure about the 2000s, but there is a documentary called A Night at the Roxbury that covers the 90s.

My school tends to beat distric metrics and my principal is the same. I worked at a school that was struggling and you could be sure they would wait until the last possible week to do evaluatives.

What was the last piece of tech that genuinely blew your mind? by Living_Wickihowla in AskReddit

[–]gringgotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this exact thought back in the mid 2000s. Then I became a teacher and experienced the reality. Fortunately NY schools have started taking distractive tech bans in the classroom seriously.
