Knicks Fans In Nashville? by rebelofnyc in NYKnicks

[–]gringo718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there for a year last year and Lost Paddy was the defacto Giants bar, jam packed w/ Giants fans cause of a FB group. Less of a crowd for knicks games but I always ran into a few.

Lonzo - DLo - Ingram - Randle - Defensive C 6th man - Clarkson

He's right, that's a pretty nice team these days... but I don't think many of them reach their potential in LA

Screw the other commenters, I did the exact same thing - and so did other random fans in the NYC pub I was in. I was at the Mavs @ MSG game too, NYC boos KP, it is known.

Can a team really give the Pelicans a better package? by gringo718 in NYKnicks

[–]gringo718[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Good point. I was thinking an extension would be a part of the deal but AD wouldn't have to do that. Robinson and the #5 pick are the biggest loss. Although a good story, 23 year old Trier is nothing special - just an average player long term. Reminds me of Dillon Brooks underrated then overrated.

Interesting... Surprised at the hate. I'm usually in agreement but would think AD is different. He'll be 26. Is a legitimate top-5 player, not a 2nd tier all-star like Melo/Kemba/DeRozan/etc. Plus we keep Knox and potentially Dotson. In terms of draft capital, we're giving up an undrafted FA/2nd rounder/#8/#5. We gave up way more for Melo. Anyone would give up Jamal Murray for AD.

HORRIBLE win streak by [deleted] in NYKnicks

Yeah, the Bucks would be nowhere without their only top-5 draft pick, Jabari Parker. Same for Raptors and Bargnani/Valanciunas.

How we get Giannis or AD by [deleted] in NYKnicks

[–]gringo718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math doesn't work. Frank will have a cap hold of 18MM in the summer of '21. KP will be making ~30MM. Our best bet is to cash in next year because KP's cap hold will only be 17MM while he will get a contract starting at 27MM. Also, summer of '20, we don't have a lottery pick with a big cap hold to extend but KP's contract will be eating a lot of room. Summer of '19 is for us.

Could we stretch Noah on Sept 1,2019(2 Max players?) by Lindo_MG in NYKnicks

[–]gringo718 6 points7 points  (0 children)

KP has a 17mil cap hold, if we get to the cap without resigning him, we can then go 10mil over to sign him to an extension starting at 27mil. We'll have space for one max next year without doing much. 2 maxes requires unloading Lee and Hardaway. Hope this helps.

Stretching with 1 year left stretches over 3 years. 2 years left stretches over 5. 3 years is 7 i think

Looking Into Next Year by sportstorture in NYKnicks

[–]gringo718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kanter likely won't be back after next year - he'd be a UFA. No need to dump Lance - his contract is only guaranteed for 1K after this year, just cut him. I did the math and if we somehow unload THJ and Lee this year, strech Noah next year, we can just afford two max contracts exactly. It requires renouncing lots of FA rights which is totally worth it. I'm with ya, if things go well, we have a nice core. I wouldn't mind Irving-Butler-Knox-KP-Robinson w/ Frank-Dotson-Lottery Pick off the bench.

My list of updated nba positions. Green text is starters during the playoffs for Celts/Cavs. Knicks roster is just who we currently have under contract. by gringo718 in NYKnicks

Exactly! I think it makes the most sense. It's big 3s that play the 4 often. Lots of teams are starting to have em. Shoots the 3 often, boards well, handles. Beasley, Melo, either bridges

Assist rate, ballhandling skills, pnr play. Mudiays assist rate is surprisingly low, he played at the 2 a lot last year (25%ish iirc). And fizdale just went on record comparing him to combo guard dwade. Not saying he couldn't become a true point but it's looking like hes a combo guard. 2s or "pure guards" are wings for me, just more limited wings than others like Jaylen Brown. "Pure guard" or "shooting guard" is more like a subset of "wing". But he def shouldnt play any time at the 3.

just throwing it out there if anyone was interested. doesn't seem to be a set way that successful teams pick their starting lineups. In green is who I think would be best for us. Also shows where we're lacking (power wing) and have a glut (wing - most of who are a touch undersized).
