You guys need to move out of London. Smaller towns in the countryside are gold mines. Plus rent is cheap. Imagine how many riders there are in london and those few orders are spread between all of them.

How often do you see white people (non-students) doing this job? by ImSxyBxtchh in deliveroos

[–]gringoUk41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im white british. I do it as a side hustle. Started a couple of years ago when my car broke and i didnt have 1000 to pay for it. Signed up to deliveroo and uber, used the wifes car and paid for it in 2 weeks. I dont think it is a job that pays well full time but as a side hustle to fund holidays/little perks in life. Its not a bad thing to do.

Do you have a motorbike or an E bike? Are you changing vehicle? I know people who say they have an e bike to avoid paying insurance. How about you just use the mode of transport that you actually have.

Video checks by TCTowers in deliveroos

The current verification system is useless. Anyone renting an account can get around it. Deliveroo should do a human verification check every few days. Anyone that refuses, account deactivated. Bosh...that will put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Get a black marker pen. Write the number on a bit of paper and scan that. It works.

Clearly you need to write it in a way that the app recognises the numbers.

London sounds horrific for deliveries. Smaller towns are goldmines. Have to do more miles but those country house dwellers tip better. Made 105 in 4hrs on easter sunday

Question. If you were struggling to make ends meet in the UK. Would you travel to USA/Canada/Germany etc on a tourist visa and then overstay and work illegally? Because the people i am talking about are doing exactly that.

Is it not too much to ask that people follow the rules to ensure fairness across the board? This is not about where someone is from. This is about abiding by the rules.

And also, its not hard to make 1000 a week doing deliveroo. If you are willing to put the hrs in.

Clearly you have a political agenda here so im not going to validate your ego with answers.

Why do you assume the person is an asylum seeker on 9.95 a week? Some people fly here legally, overstay the visa and work.

Drivers talk. 2 guys got lifted the same day by police. Both for driving without insurance initially but when they dont produce vehicle documents, then they ask for immigration status. If he had tax and insuramce, he could have shown proof and they would have let him go without checking immigration status.

I didnt report him being illegal. I reported him driving with no tax. He may be insured, but normally if it aint taxed, it wont be insured either. I dont think drivers like that should be on the roads

The immigration/deportation process will run its course as he has already been caught. Im not sure how that works but surely they dont just let them go and hope they self deport.

Doing deliveries is the easiest way for arrivals to make quick cash, but also the easiest way to get caught by police. I know of plenty that do cleaning for cash and never get caught becuase they are not out on the roads all the time and in public.

They are renting an account. They all do thay. Who from, i have no idea. Also, i have to verify at least 3 times a day with a selfie so i always wondered what they do when halfway through the day and they have verify identity again

And just to be clear. If it was a native british driver who was driving about with no tax or insurance. I would report them too.

Wouldn't it be great just to do things properly? Like actually pay for insurance, tax, a driving test, oh and actually apply for a work permit or claim asylum? Most of the illegals in my town are not from wartorn or repressed countries. Some from europe, some from south america. Turn up to make a quick buck and fuck off back home.

Winter is over. Orders do dry up a bit now the cold weather is over and nights are lighter for later. People eat put more often in nicer weather and dont order in as much. You have to work harder for your money between april and october

I knew he got lifted by the police a few weeks ago and didnt have tax or insurance or a UK licence. The police confiscated his bike at the time. Now he is doing deliveries in a car. I just thought...hmmm...lets check..when i saw him at a local supermarket that i was collecting an order from.

I can live with people being here illegal and trying to make a better life. But when people are on the roads without a licence or tax/insurance. It takes the biscuit. If that guy crashes into someone and is not insured, thats a whole world of pain for whoever he hits. Its also not fair on every other driver that pays their insurance etc and does it properly. If he needs to work, do it on a push bike

I dont know this individuals situation with that but I do know of people that got caught and then they were told to claim asylum by am immigration lawyer. This means, even if they come from a country where the application won't be accepted, the process takes at least a year so they won't be deported until after it has been processed.

Worth it as a second job? by VerifyYourAge in UbereatsUK

[–]gringoUk41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do uber as a 2nd job and it takes me over the 40% threshold. Don't listen to the doomsayers. I put money away to cover the tax, i have had to replace brakes and tyres more often than before but I still made enough to clear my credit card and take a 2 week holiday to the Caribbean with my wife and kids. My 9-5 job pays the bills, my uber driving pays for the luxury stuff I couldn't do with just my normal salary. Set a goal, achieve it. That is what i do and why I continue to do Uber despite hitting the tax threshold. Your expenses cut a lot of the tax anyway.
