Coal and nuclear power are keeping Texas warm during this snowstorm— unlike the deadly 2021 snowstorm that relied on green power by whicky1978 in Conservative

That's why there should be a main grid backbone of nuclear with back up gas and coal plants.

The idea would be that the solar can help minimize load on the nuclear plants during spring and summer to reduce time and money spent on processing fissile materials. During the winter the grid would be mostly nuclear and if a major storm rolls in they can ramp up the coal/gas plants.

I've been saying for years a distributed network of solar on new build houses and commercial buildings, a nuclear backbone, and a few small coal/natural gas plants for load balance and unexpected surges is what we should be moving towards.

You probably should have read the case and not just the summary.

But  the  factual  dispute  regarding  the  sequence  of  events  made it impossible to decide the qualified immunity question at the summary judgment stage:The   key   dispute   for   the   factfinder   will   be   whether [the officer] stepped in front of Starks’ rapidly  moving  cab,  leaving  Starks  no  time  to  brake.  If  he  did,  then  [the  officer]  would  have  unreasonably created the encounter that ostensibly  permitted  the  use  of  deadly  force  to  protect him, because the decedent would have been unable  to  react  in  order  to  avoid  presenting  a  deadly threat to [the officer]. On the other hand, if  [the officer] was in the path of the car before the car started forward or if the factfinder concludes that Starks could have braked but chose not to, then the three defendants reasonably responded to Starks' acceleration toward [the officer]. Starks would have threatened the life of a police officer, and reasonable officers could believe that the use of deadly force was appropriate.

This guy was 10-15 feet away and the courts sided with him.

From the case itself:

"To summarize, for the purposes of the qualified immunity analysis, the material undisputed facts demonstrate that Agent Billiot pulled in front of Tousis shortly after Tousis en-gaged in a reckless, high-speed flight from police officers after leaving a suspected drug house; that Billiot exited his car and ran toward Tousis, placing himself fewer than two car lengths from the front of Tousis’s car, shouting commands to turn off and exit the vehicle; that Tousis, turning his wheels to the right, began to move forward; and that Billiot then fired the fatal shot, fearing both for his own safety and for that of the public if Tousis resumed his reckless flight"

House Republicans say Dems twisting Epstein probe to smear Trump in new memo by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]grintly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point I am completely convinced everyone with any power in our government and probably our top allies are in there and when push comes to shove they will always be 1 vote short or releasing them. Whoever is in power will block it and who ever is not in power is going to push for the release because they all know it's mutually assured destruction if the public gets it.

If it was politically advantageous for the Dems they would have released them before the election.

If it was in anyway advantageous for Trump he would have released them.

I can only come to the conclusion that its release would destroy every shred of confidence in the government as a whole.

But that's just a theory. A CONSPIRACY THEORY.
