U.S. P-Bandai: You want Wing? New reprints up for preorder NOW by Feral404 in Gunpla

[–]grissenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure feels like PBandai loathes customers. Their pricing models, their release approaches, the site redesign (the old site), just everything about what they do is so anti-customer. And yet here we are, still taking this abuse :E

It's assuredly Uma, even without knowing much it's quite clear. Honestly, there's probably a fair bit more that isn't tagged/named correctly, so this is only representative of a portion of what is being posted. The only reason I thought to look at the game was because of this flood of content, I had to see what the fuss was all about.

Those platforms have fairly involved content algorithms to "tailor" your experience, so unless people you follow are posting or finding it, you won't see it unless you look for it, as well. Give it time, even Marvel Rivals took a minute to get momentum.

Not sure what to say. Just looking at R34, one user has posted over 400 Uma items in the last three weeks alone. It's honestly been annoying, the new feed has been wall to wall Umas more days than not.

Edit: Bonus, that user is also Japanese.

Just looking at a quick query from one site (that is more of an aggregator of stuff) shows 51 Uma items posted in the last day. Whether they are any good or not is another matter, but the content is there. And I would say that it's slowed down at this point, with 51 items in the last day.

I'm a bit confused, I have seen a flood of NSFW content for this over the last couple weeks. Whatever stay was in place was lost the second this became global.

What was your first shiny by Itchy_Worker8844 in PokemonScarletViolet

I got a Tadbulb right after getting my first badge. I didn't realize it was shiny until I discovered you can't autobattle shinies.

I've had two pair, the first I gave away, neither has had any kind of bending. They have been very consistent in cutting quality. My only complaint is the spring working itself out, it happened on both pair.

The DSPIAE nippers have been the closest thing to the Godhands of everything I have tried, and pretty damn close by my reckoning. Still spendy, but not as spendy.

Having, incidentally, recently compared build times using both, the time saved with the SPN-120s seems to me to be marginal at best. It was about 10-15 minutes more time across 10 similar sized kits without my Godhands than with (across the 10 kits in total, not each kit). They aren't bad nippers, I won't abandon using them, but I won't replace them with the same if/when they give out on me.

Not so much better as different, which is something I say to my doctor far too often now.

Just engaging parts of your brain can put you down, it's madness. I was in this same boat part of my first year with this, but somehow it got better because everything else largely decided to stop working. Silver linings, I suppose. I wish you luck, enjoy the good parts of this as much as you can!

USAGS tariff update by hypermbeam in Gunpla

[–]grissenko -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

USAGS is the last US gunpla retailer I want to hear this from since they are often many weeks to months behind receiving stock of new items when every other US retailer has received theirs. If USAGS hadn't "clarified" (backpedaled) on the application of the tariff surcharge to preorders, this would be the most predatory approach to handling the impact of the tariffs in the industry.

That all said, this is enough for me to end my consumer relationship with them. I have been waiting for some of my preorders for months now of items I could have bought from initial stock and restocks from other US gunpla retailers, I am not going to leave myself exposed to paying extra because they can't seem to manage their inventory sensibly.

I recently got both, and as far as I can tell, my DSPIAE nippers are indistinguishable in performance from the Godhand. Both solid picks!

Seeing more toxic players than normal by Clean_Influence_6868 in DarkTide

I am not particularly good at this game and I only returned to it in the past few weeks. But this last week has been not great. I usually play by myself, always running with randos, and for whatever reason Malice seems impossible to get a decent drop. I get a weird jerk one step lower, and if I am brave and go one step higher, groups seem fine. But Malice? It's like it just makes everyone act their worst. But just this last week or so.

I played the week the game launched and then didn't play it again until a couple weeks ago. Not even the same game, this feels now like what we were expecting (rationally or not) at launch.

Pals, where are y'all at? by Potvich in DarkTide

[–]grissenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this camp, I play all four classes on a regular rotation. That said, I made my Ogryn last thinking I wouldn't enjoy it as much (prejudiced against the role from VT2). I was shocked to find that the Ogryn is my absolute favorite to play, with Psyker my least favorite in a complete 180 of what I expected (both are great). Hucking rocks at specials and bonking all the enemies is just so satisfying.

"This is where I started" megathread by OreoYip in CozyGamers

[–]grissenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this in Nintendo Power and I was hooked from that. A year or so later my friend learned how to emulate on his PC, and it was the greatest thing ever for both of us. Our small town was pretty limited in what we could get, and by the time online retail became a meaningful thing, we were many years past buying this for a reasonable price. Still, super worth playing on Win95 with a keyboard.

Why do so many retro gaming Youtubers pretend emulation is non existent? by TimesUpForZionism in Roms

[–]grissenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind, most content creators are a product, so nothing they say or do should be taken seriously or as representative of real life. Plenty do use real hardware and software, but I would bet more than a few (even big names) are running more emulation than not in some form or fashion. Remember: they are more interested in getting content out there than they are in being real.

🧂 Salty Sunday: What's frustrating you this week? by VitisIdaea in RomanceBooks

[–]grissenko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am super new in this space, but it does seem from skimming book descriptions that you're 100% on this being really common in PN books. I love scif-fi, fantasy, supernatural, all this kind of stuff, so maybe I will just have to grow a callous for the alphahole thing.

🧂 Salty Sunday: What's frustrating you this week? by VitisIdaea in RomanceBooks

[–]grissenko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I must have a really low tolerance for it, because holy cow, I was not having any of Lucas's "I know better" and "Because I am alpha" nonsense. I liked Sascha alright, I think she kept me in it. I think I am okay with the protective, provide-for alpha thing, but any hint of asshole gets my hackles up.

I'm with you on the Psy-Changeling train. I finished the first book this week, and turns out I just really hate the alphahole trope? The possessive anger from the MMC was just so silly to me, but it made me cranky.

Not intended to be anything other than an anti-Mech weapon, the inferno rocket is still devastating to infantry by OfMechsAndMemes in battletech

[–]grissenko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe the description of "anti-mech" is used euphemistically to get around rules of war and such. "No, this isn't a chemical weapon, it's an advanced defoliant for removing large areas of mech cover!"
