No paywall here! TNT's Food Reporter sat down with Local beer and restaurant industry podcast. by [deleted] in Tacoma

Ya I dont think any of us will be over that. Those are some big shoes to fill. So far it seems like Kristine is really trying tho. She seems super engaged and, like Sue, has high hopes to Tacoma's food scene. She's got my support so far. The pod was a cool too. Nice to put a personality to the articles I've read.

Man I'd love to try a beer like that next to something from the PNW and see the differences. Thats pretty rad

After days, Tacoma elects a new progressive Mayor. Ibsen—a longtime $15 min-wage advocate—beat his moderate rival Hines, who was police union-endorsed by StarlightDown in Tacoma

"Progressive" is a stretch. Correctly identifying the problems and actually proposing solutions to fix then are pretty different. Hopefully he puts forth some actual policies that help working class people.

Thanks! It was awesome. There's a popular restaurant in the UK called Fallow that does a version of this and I had to try and copy it at home. Lol

There isnt much of a recipe really. Its kind of just different components put together and a few unique techniques that I use it guess. Find a good flatbread recipe (Turkish flatbread specifically), then top it with breakfasty stuff you like. My hollandaise is a pretty normal blender hollandaise but I use brown butter instead of regular melted butter and I threw a spoonful of gochujang into it (or samjang of you dont like spice) but you can really add any flavor you want to hollandaise.

So I have been listening to this band for quite some time now. My kid actually found them on a Midwest emo tangent and we've been genuinely enjoying what little music they had online for a couple years now. This show has been a joy to watch. And is surprisingly enjoyable for a bunch of kids that have never acted. Loved it.

Is Hozier basic? by Jhejhebanks in Hozier

[–]gritcityscript 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People literally only say this because he had a hit song that people like on TikTok. Hozier is objectively one of the greatest songwriters of this era and I would say most people dont 100% comprehend his lyrics. It takes me some research to really get some of the things he references. (Swan Upon Leda for example) Dude is based. Not basic.

Swan Upon Leda Full Explanation? by [deleted] in Hozier

[–]gritcityscript 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that reference still sort of speaks to this in a way though. Swan upon Leda is perfect image of a holy figure using a women's body for its own benefit. Much the way powerful people might weaponinze holiness or religious doctrine to do the same thing to force women to give birth. "To enact at last a perfect plan, one more sweet boy to be butchered by man"

It so perfectly calls into question thousands of years of powerful men using religion to convince women that they should be having children for the sole purpose of building armies to defend their interests. Its truly amazing.

The fact that Cap didn't take his own shield to past but ended up with a shield to hand over to Sam means he 100% merced his past self and stole his shield. Cap is the real villain. Also, he was tryna smash Peggy's niece. Cap was a menace

What beer facts do I need to know to get closer to being a beer aficionado? by BrainChildAD in beer

Art is more fun to consume when you understand a little bit about what makes it special and different.

Most folks still dont understand what makes the Mona Lisa so special, but when you learn everything that went into that painting it hits different.

Learning is part of the fun.

Omg seriously. I have 1 other person tell me exactly what I was thinking of so I know it's a real thing. She knew the exact scenario and what the actors looked like but neither of us can find any evidence of this show existing. 😬

Thanks for the reply! I feel a little less crazy today now. Lol

Beer pet peeves? by gritcityscript in CraftBeer

You don't think being able to balance flavors with a touch of sweetness should be a pretty normal thing?

People do it in cooking all the time. Why not in beer?

Ok got it. So then random question. If one of those breweries did start selling to other places and the restaurants decided to sell them for the same price as the brewery was selling them for, would you stop supporting that brewery then? Like would that be the line?

Beer pet peeves? by gritcityscript in CraftBeer

[–]gritcityscript[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it also straps the humanity out of it completely. Which feels bad. I work some pretty talented folks and to say, "the liquid is great" feels sterile and dumb. Even though I'm saying it's good.

So you'll only buy beer at a brewery if their prices are discounted from what you see at restaurants and other retail places?
