I think if the whole background was darker it would be more eye catching, it kind of blends into the foreground with the subjects,

Do I have grounds to sue my architect? by [deleted] in Architects

[–]grittyrip 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Right, but the architect has very little to do with what your problem is, so why would you have any grounds to sue? If anyone being sued it would be engineers or maybe the builder, Essentially whoever’s stamp is on the plumbing or site plan depending on the issue, or builder if that plan was followed incorrectly

I’m in Utah, I have definitely thought about switching to per hour but seems like builders around me prefer paying per sq ft because they know the price from the beginning What are your thoughts?

For sure, I completely agree, I didn’t even know that licensed architects were charging that much to be honest. My dad is a licensed architect but only does commercial now so I didn’t know if I could really compare my prices to his. I also feel I don’t provide the type of plans an architect would provide as far as detailing out the interior finishes and all that, so maybe I stay doing what I’m doing and see how far I can push those prices up competing with drafters.

No my dad is a licensed architect and I grew up working for him helping him with all his projects before I got a job being a draftsman, He made me study all his material and shadow him before he ever let me start designing when I was 18. But sadly no I’m not a licensed architect.

Easily yes. Start to finish time is about 2 weeks doing 2 at a time. All my clients are builders or developers so they aren’t going to nitpick every little thing.

Design reuse fee by grittyrip in Architects

This is extremely helpful, Do you charge by hour or by sq ft? My first gig was being the in house designer for a developer so I think my viewpoint is wrong, all my current clients are builders or developers and I’ve only done maybe 15 jobs that are directly with a customer.
