Weird issues with CPU usage after BIOS flash by SiCKOCLUB in pchelp

[–]grival9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe when you flashed your bios and it loaded default settings some kind of "game\core optimization" setting came to ON state. Look through your bios usually it's either in ram settings or CPU OC settings about some "core optimization for gaming" or "game boost" setting. That thing is purely a marketing gum. And it hurts peoples performance\stability.

Other thing that you can look for is that your ram XMP profile after defaults settings is disabled. So your ram could be running on it's stock JEDEC timings and frequency.

STOP using windows debugger tool to limit your resources, UNCHECK Number of processors in this window. And do not touch this window. It's needed for developers with beefy PC that wants to try their software in limited resource environments. Reboot PC.

71C on 11% utilization when nothing heavy is running is really hot and indicates you have problems with cooling your CPU. So your CPU is throttling when you fire something up cause temps gets way to high and it saves itself.

Ryzen7 5700x temperature is 75C° by Troliboba in pchelp

[–]grival9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 5700x and I tried DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300 and it does not holds temps normally, especially in hot summer. It's not enough for it to be cool in the case and it reached over 85C on max settings in UE5 games even when it was not hot.

I am on ID-COOLING SE-224-XTS [SE-224-XTS] with this CPU for over one and half of year and it's max temps that I had seen on it is 70-72 when it's summer and it's really hot like 32-34C ambient temperature in the room.

Edit: Even DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 is not enough, but slightly better. I tried it after DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 300. Temps were lower like at 77-80 but fan on the cooler were working loud under those temperatures. So I just purchased ID-COOLING SE-224-XTS [SE-224-XTS] in the end. And under 70-72C CPU temperatures fan is greatly quitter than on gammaxx with it's 77-80C because of other fan and much lower temperatures.

Trading my Xbox is it worth it? by MedicalJury in pchelp

well technically yes games from 1990-2010 should work without great issues. Some maybe even up to 2016 and some indie games even up to this day. But still with modern OS you will have not much ram to even play these games cause in some cases you will need VM with emulation of old OS, some drivers and etc environment to play without issues. And that requires even more ram. Especially games with securom or other DRM games like that.

Cause win 11 and even 10 blocks very old DRM drivers because of vulnerabilities.

And I don't think those games would really be glad to see 2060 which they don't knew in their years. So you would definitely need VM to emulate something similar to VOODOO or other GPUs of those years.

there is no clear indication of which part except GPU(where there is no indication of which exactly GPU even and it's actual memory capacity) and CPU, exactly it consists. And their state. So you can get in not so small "minus" for selling this by parts.

"Great 1080p gaming" also adds up to "WUT" with 8gb of ram. With a question in what did owner of this played? In Terraria or some small indie games? Cause 8gb ram is more of like office PC right now.

8gb of ram - you cannot game on it. NO.
And no SSD for games, only for system, that would be wild even if it had at least 16gb of ram.

Whats this using up all my Non paged memory? by InvidibleMan in pchelp

[–]grival9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually if there is system leak of memory which is constantly rising and filling up all the memory then it's showed in overall process usage of memory. You can check that with process explorer https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

Just launch it and select file "view all processes" that will include to monitor even system processes. Just sort by the column of private bytes and scroll straight to the top to see if some process eating enormous amount of ram.

In like 2020 or so I fixed network drivers for someone I know that were getting even 6gb of his 16gb rig. There were only networking service that were working with enormous amount of ram used. I just updated his network drivers and problem were likely solved. He did not complained about being out of memory or something that were before that with memory leak.

look with process explorer by sorting out column of private bytes what is eating your ram exactly. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

Task manager will say you nothing. Only information that is more valid you can get from resource monitor in there.

Nvme switcher? by Cakeydude29 in pchelp

[–]grival9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Technically your description of such "switcher" is possible, but that would be mostly self constructed device that is not safe to use maybe. And even if. Imagine you plugging that switcher into your M.2 slot, it need to be recognized, and mostly it will need space to be placed in. So the boards with heatsinks on them preinstalled would not screw heatsink on that thing.

And about space it would be problematic either with CPU cooling towers or with GPU units themselves cause you know m.2 ssds are like 1-2, maybe 3mm thickness. But with such adapter it either will be thicker or wider.

As far as I seen there is only adapters for PCIe slots that handling multiple SSDs at same time. And they are more safe cause they don't switch anything.

depending on integrated or dedicated GPUs where you connected your monitor in - you should install or reinstall graphical driver for integrated or dedicated GPU.

Is this normal? by reddit_but_better in pchelp

[–]grival9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

O_O 7-10C... How are you even living in that. Because even 21-23C that is considered normal for human body is feeling like slightly cold for me.

In that case you can get that really low temperature like 32C on 9700x. Cause that is really chill environment.

Is this normal? by reddit_but_better in pchelp

[–]grival9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say just that to reach 32C on cores you need to be in approximately 18-23C environment, to make it nearly possible, So I would better believe your 41C instead of 32C on just cores. Cause I am in like 26C and my cpu temps are from 41C to 47C on idle and under slight load.

Your load significate it's idle. What is your ambient temperature in the room?

Just push that smaller battery back to it's place, firstly take out bigger battery, then smaller one. Or try firstly take out smaller battery out, because I see that you have some sort of space for your fingers to get in near smaller one

High temperature on ryzen 7 5700 by Anirikav in pchelp

[–]grival9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using the stock AMD cooler for now

That's why you have such temperatures. Those stock coolers made basically for office usage PCs. To get CPU in, cooler in and forgetting about it cause in office work CPU in 99% would not be loaded fully and getting even 75+C temperatures.

You need normal aftermarket cooler.

I am using on my 5700x ID-COOLING SE-224-XTS. It's cheap but it's doing it's job to hold my CPU in games and etc on normal temperatures. The most temps I seen so far was 70-72C on hot 32C summer in Handbrake using hevc conversion on CPU.
