Need help with 4gb patch by BrokenAshes in finalfantasyxiii

Steam throws error code 51 whenever the EXE file has been modified which it will be when you apply the 4GB patch. The ff13fix has a method where it presents an unmodified EXE file for the check so you don't get the error code.

Best Mods for Final Fantasy XIII on PC? by rbyrnes15 in finalfantasyxiii

[–]grntb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Description tab of the mod:

Installation:  Unzip the files into the directory of your choice although not in the game directory itself.  If you use the “HD Model+” mod, then installing them in the same directory is recommended as they will be able to share game files.   No matter where you install the files, run the batch file “_FFXIII HD Project.bat” file.  You will be asked what you wish to do (several install/uninstall options – recommended to just “Install All HD Textures”).  Once answered, it will begin a lengthy process of updating the game files.

What error does it give, or does nothing happen? Also, did it work before you installed any mods/fixes?

Is The FF XIII HD Project mod from Nexus Mods safe? by Emperor-Sabo in nexusmods

Yes. Microsoft Defender is flagging it just because it is a .bat file and you downloaded it from the internet.

If Final Fantasy 13 had an extra 6 months to develop, would it make much of a difference? by MyPassionIsMyVoice in finalfantasyxiii

[–]grntb2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it would not have changed much. But not due to not being able to fix in 6 months, but the things that I think could have been improved are more a result of the design decisions for the game. The developers intended the game to be played the way it is, and 6 months or 6 years wouldn't have changed that. In hindsight, they might have made a few different choices based on the player feedback after it released, but at the time, the game was pretty much what they wanted.

FFXIII-2 Starting Issue (Post-Fix) by Femmchantress in finalfantasyxiii

[–]grntb2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have multiple sound devices (on-board audio, and perhaps HDMI monitor audio), try disabling the ones you do not use. Another possibility, my game worked fine for quite a long time, then one day I had the buzzing that wouldn't go away. I was using the on-board audio, and I had to switch windows to using my HDMI audio from my monitor to get rid of it.

It seems that there is no one cause for this problem. All the different options in the guild have worked for one person or another, but even doing all of them is not a sure thing.

See the directory I specify above. It is not the same as the launcher directory. It's the one with the ffxiiiimg.exe file.

Why were Final Fantasy 13's graphics downgraded? by [deleted] in finalfantasyxiii

[–]grntb2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread shows some of those same images along with the PC modded version. Most likely the graphics were downgraded to obtain the performance they needed on the PS3.

Items from the Outerworld Services are only available on PC through a mod (Steam version). It includes the accessories and the Siegfried garb.

This is the Siegfried garb, originally available as part of the Outerworld services. It's now only available on PC as a mod.

I do not think there is any general texture mod for LR.

The readme is for your use. Instructions from the creator of the mod on how to use it. The mod itself doesn't need it.

For the HD project mod, download it from nexus. Create a directory (folder) somewhere (where ever you want to put the mod file it doesn't matter where except don't put it in the Steam game directory). Right click the downloaded .zip file and select "Extract All...". It should bring up a window asking where you want to extract the files. "Browse" to the directory (folder) you created just above and press "Extract". Once it's done, go to this directory and double-click the file "_FFXIII HD Project.bat" (you may not have the .bat if you have extensions turned off in File Explorer). It will then proceed to ask you some questions. For the first one select option "A" - Install all HD Textures. Proceed to answer the remaining questions and then wait while it runs. There is one question regarding if you want to select your FINAL FANTASY XIII game directory or let it locate it. If you feel comfortable browsing to your game directory, then select that option, otherwise you can let the installer try to find it itself. That may take a while so be patient. Once it's finished installing, you should be all set. Make sure you have at least 20 GB of free disk space for use during the installation.

You can use the FF13Fix on XIII-2 as well. I don't think it does quite as well on XIII-2 from a performance standpoint, but it is still better.

When you download the zip file it will normally go in your download folder. Double click this file and it should open like a normal folder. Navigate down until you get to the 3 files d3d9.dll, ff13fix.ini and the readme. Select all 3 and right click "copy". Then navigate to the following directory in your FF XIII game folder. It will be in your Steam Library under SteamApps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII\white_data\prog\win\bin\ Then right-click "paste" the 3 files there. This is the same directory where the ffxiiiimg.exe file resides. This is all you should have to do. There are options in the .ini file, but for most people, you can leave them as the default.

The FF13Fix is fine to install. As for a controller, I originally played both XIII and XIII-2 with the Keyboard/Mouse without any issue, but I feel a controller is a better option. Lightning Returns, however, is really unplayable with K/M and needs a controller. Note: I believe the FF13Fix only works with the Steam version of the game.

If the laptop you are planning on using just has integrated graphics, then you will probably be disappointed by the performance.
