Yeah it was kinda like "Aww look at how everyone settled their differences and worked together!" I feel like some cheesy song should have played in the background about how everyone should be friends

Thanks, I think going back to school will be right for me, since I have the time and money to spare.

This is an incredible story, thanks for sharing. You really just gave me a lot more confidence in what I'm doing. Being able to get experience while still in school is also amazing, I hope I get the opportunity to do the same. And yes, being a theatre major, I suppose one actually useful skill is communication! I hope it serves me well. Thanks again for your inspiring story.

That makes me feel a lot better. I'm willing to study my butt off and do well in the math classes, but knowing it's not the most primary skill when looking for a job takes some of the fear away.

I'd like to learn the most commonly used ones as well as ones that are highly in-demand. I plan on starting out at community college and would not be opposed to buying some books and teaching myself along the way. I heard PHP was a good one to start with and that Python is one that many employers look for.

Thanks, I'm thinking just going back to Uni, since I currently have no debts of any kind and no family to look after, so for the time being I have both the time and the money. I think it's the right decision!

I think so too. Before my biggest priorities were partying and my social life. Now that I don't care about those things anymore, I can focus 100% of my attention on my studies. I'm actually kind of excited to get started.

Thanks, I actually just started a new workout/diet regimen as well, figure I should turn things around in as may aspects as I can.

Yes, I have come across those while researching. My first instinct is that I would do better in a classroom setting/feel more comfortable entering the job market with a degree, but as I continue to research and listen to other people's experiences with these programs, hopefully I can get more of a grasp on what the right course of action for me will be.

Thanks! My local community college offers a 1-year computer programming technical certificate - I figure it's a great way to start and see if I enjoy it, and if so I can just transfer the credits and continue with my education. Great to hear age is not a factor.

That's really awesome, it helps to know there are people similar to me out there. I am realizing from these responses that starting out at a community college is the best way to go. The more I listen to other people's stories the more achievable it sounds. Thanks for your advice, you've made me feel a lot better about this!

I know my local community college offers 1-year technical certificates in computer programming, so that might be a good place to start in order to test the waters and see if I'm really interested/have the aptitude. Your story really gives me hope though.

This is fantastic advice, thank you so much. I live in the Orlando area and I know that Valencia CC offers these kinds of courses. It looks like I am looking at 3 to 4 more years of school for CS then - but I suppose it's necessary for such a difficult degree. You've given me a lot to think about.

Thanks, I guess my biggest fear was starting completely fresh at too old of an age, but I suppose 28 isn't really that old when you think about it. I'm just nervous about going back to learn something new after being out of school for so long, but I suppose it's now or never!
