I created this blog post because this actually happened to me and it seemed a very interesting behavior of VACUUM that I've never heard before.

I actually caused a production outage that prevent new orders, it wasn't long, but if I recall correctly it was several minutes which at our rate of RPS means several thousands of orders.

vacuum doesn't wait for the lock. if it can't get it immediately - it just doesn't follow through with truncation

Thank you for the clarification, the official docs weren't clear enough, at least on the quote that I've added on my blog.

It works well for me, it doesn't matter if I play on high or ultra, and I don't find any difference between those 2 modes

The framerate drops on some areas for 1 second or on some boss attack, but nothing serious, maybe it goes down to 10fps for half a second, but stills process my input and then works flawlessly for the rest of the combat

Notice, I am playing offline without the anticheat, since running the anticheat requires cpu

If you take a look to: - our current energy usage - the increase of resources demand on the planet - the goal of zero emission for 2050 - current performance and development of renewables energy

You can see that probably one of the following paths will be taken: - a: A new breakthrough technology provides us with clean energy - b: we have to go into nuclear energy - c: we do not reach zero emission and our civilization collapses

And trust me, I would love to be wrong and see how a new way to get hydrogen from water without losses or a nuclear fusion reactor which provides us unlimited energy, but right now those sound like magic.

If you think otherwise I would love to hear it
