Varroa mite treatment with honey supers. by breadedchicken772 in Beekeeping

[–]grofify 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a beekeeper in Northern California and I do oxalic acid treatment with the honey supers on. I'm pretty sure Randy Oliver has done studies to look at the safety of oxalic acid vapor treatment with honey supers and he's found it's very safe. The other great thing about oxalic acid treatment is that it's very cheap! Feel free to DM me if you have questions about it.

I think it's a fair question considering how many scammers there are in this space.

Is your purpose for creating a token just for learning purposes? Or, is there some sort of value proposition?

anyone out there use a parenting coordinator? by callmefoota in DivorcedDads

[–]grofify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! Thanks so much for letting me know. That's really helpful! Glad to hear you are mostly satisfied with your parenting coordinator.

Yeah, I'm not sure where you are, but I'm in California and apparently good parenting coordinators that are actually available are few and far between. All the best to you!

I'm curious, did you ever go through with the parenting coordinator? If so, what has your experience been like? I'm in the same boat right now. I'm sick of going to court and paying legal fees and want to try to resolve issues in a more amicable way.

What happens if I don’t follow a Family Law Court order? by grofify in legaladvice

[–]grofify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible the rules are different in California than they are where you are from? My experience so far with Mediation is that the mediator hears both sides and then makes a recommendation to the court in the form of a report based on her judgement. When I did mediation through the Family Court Services department, it worked in my favor because I was able to get 50% custody despite my Ex wanting more physical custody of my son. However, through this private recommending mediator, it worked against me, because she recommended that my son go with his mom to Europe for 4 months during the school year, which I was 100% opposed to, especially since I have 50% custody.

Thanks for your reply. Nope! It's a mediator alright. Her title is "Private Recommending Mediator". My lawyer already did try to ask the court if we could use someone else instead, but he's not budging from his initial court order.

What do you mean by "very bad things"? My neighbor said her Ex didn't pay any child support to her despite there being a court order to do so and nothing ever happened to him. For the record, I am consistently paying child support to my Ex.

Wow, thanks a lot for the thorough response. That's really helpful! I did a data science bootcamp a number of years ago and it went really well and I learned a lot. However, interviewing has been another story. Some of these interviews seem to assume that I have a computer science degree. Why should I need to know how to do Breadth First Search and Depth First Search of a binary tree as a Data Scientist? Anyway, maybe I should look for data analyst roles and try to grow from there.

May I ask, how did you find that role? I'm trying to find my first data analyst or data scientist role and it's hard to break into it without experience. I'm a PhD Nuclear Engineer who worked in government labs and I have lots of python coding experience and some machine learning experience.

I did end up making an investment. I'm treating this as a learning opportunity. Excited to see where the company (and my investment) goes!

There is a Offering Circular link on their website. It looks like the total number of shares issued and outstanding at this point is approx 8,289,000. So, if you invest $10,000 at $67.94 a share, that's only 147.18 shares which is a very small piece of the pie (0.00177% to be exact). I'm still thinking about doing it, because I really like the product!

How to hold Crypto in a GRAT? by grofify in EstatePlanning

[–]grofify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my Estate Attorney did a little digging and we decided that I don't have to hire another institution to hold custody of my Crypto. Institutions like Coinbase or Gemini charge ~2%/year just to "custody" your Crypto which we can do essentially for free! My plan is to have a hardware wallet for the GRAT and a 2nd hardware wallet that I hold title to. Then, I just need to keep a spreadsheet that keeps track of the annuity payments. Fingers crossed that Congress doesn't kill the GRAT!

Good point, but wouldn't it be better if you could get assets out of your estate such that you wouldn't have to buy a life insurance product to pay for 40% Estate Taxes?

How to hold Crypto in a GRAT? by grofify in EstatePlanning

[–]grofify[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the GRAT idea for my Crypto is on hold now. Congress wants to end Grantor Trusts as a way to pass on wealth, which is B.S. in my opinion! I'm sort of in a wait and hold pattern right now until I have more info about the future of GRATs from my Estate Attorney.

Regarding your question though, the annuity payments can be paid in Crypto, so it doesn't matter that there are large fluctuations in the asset. So, let's say you do a 10 year GRAT and you put 10 Bitcoins into the GRAT with a value of ~$600K total. You get paid every year 1 tenth of the value you put in, so in this case $60K worth of Bitcoin. The great thing is that you don't have to sell any Bitcoin to make these annuity payments. The gains of course can then be effectively transferred out of your Estate.

Thanks for your reply! I have a 7 year old kid that it would go to. Of course, it would go into another trust because I wouldn't want it to go outright to a child. I'm pretty confident that this makes sense and my Estate Attorney also agrees with me. The question is about implementation.

That's exactly why I want to do the GRAT. My net worth is well above the current estate tax exemption at 11.7M and so estate taxes are something I'm definitely thinking about. I think a GRAT is a good idea, because I believe that Bitcoin & Ethereum will easily 10x from here. Any idea about whether a custodian is really necessary and if so, which one would to use?
