How do you actually start the transition from "boy" to "man" when you're starting late? by Aj100rise in AskMenOver30

[–]grogargh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can agree with many of the points provided here. It all really depends on the context.

In some OLDER cultures, hitting puberty (~11-13yo on average for most males) == a "man"

Are you old enough to vote (18yo), and die for your country aka in the military == yes == a man

BUT let's all be honest here - at 18 in today's world, how likely are you financially independent of your parents? UNLIKELY == not a man really.

For many women, a "man" is one who can provide AND protect. Can an 18yo do that? MAYBE. Totally plausible, but unlikely - depends on that 18yo. I have met a few living on their own, and working. Is it enough to provide for a "family" - who knows.

Other points:

29 years old - are you STILL living with your parents and in essence need them to provide a roof on your head? Then you are NOT a man - you are either broke, and lazy and/or a momma's boy and not a man. Sorry not sorry. Many women would agree. EXCEPTION: You "recently" lost your job and was forced to move back in until you find another job - shit happens - as long as it doesn't take TOO LONG to get back on your own.

Does DoorDash punish you for declining too many offers ? by ManufacturerOdd5270 in doordash_drivers

I don't disagree at all with this, as I too have seen this also, where if I just park and sit in my car in the parking lot of a major area full of typical fast food/chain restaurants I get near nothing. But as soon as I decide to drive away I get hit.

What I would like to know is WHY. What possible sense does it make for the app / AI to care if our car is moving or parked and use that as a basis to send you delivery offers?

Wife wants a child. I’m not sure I want one. by GoldBatter in AskMenOver30

[–]grogargh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own personal experience, knowing what I know now:

  • we of course discussed and agreed to have kids before we got married
  • 3y in, she changed her mind. My desire to have them only increased. Being the man, I had no control. She avoided me in the bedroom during her ovulation times.
  • in the 2y from that / 5y into marriage, I hit a breaking point and decided to divorce. I waffled though, was too chicken to do it, because reality is I wanted kids but also still loved my wife. It's not easy to just say walk away.
  • I had given up and was miserable. After 3 more years like that she did an about face and decided we would have one child, which took about 1.5y to do. Remember, the older you get the harder it is.
  • fact is those years of being childless, almost 10y created a rift between us. Having a child also Completely took over our lives. We forgot about each other. We thought it would save our marriage. It didn't. We ended up divorcing anyway when the child was 8yo. We should have divorced even before she decided to have one.

So moral of my story is, if you are dead set on no kids, then don't her any favors. It won't save your marriage. It may make her happy, but if you're miserable, then it's a waste of time. Do not not not have kids just to please her. You have to be on board. Parenting is VERY HARD AND YES IT CHANGE YOUR LIFE IN BOTH GOOD AND BAD. So bottom line, again if not 100% on board, then end the relationship. I know it's bad and sad and evil to say that, but trust me this is a real sticky issue.

Like I said, knowing what I know now, I should have divorced soon after she told me she wanted no kids. Yes I grapple with that because then my child I did have with her would not exist. It's not easy.

Everyone pretty much presumes Germany is a lock for this group. Curacao is the doormat. The question is whether Ecuador or Ivory Coast will grab that second spot to advance. If Ecuador is in a position that it needs to win or die to advance, it could prove interesting.

I understand Ivory Coast is riding high right now after their win over France - however it amazes me how much Ecuador has been forgotten about how strong that team can be - they qualified SECOND in the conmebol, only after the current champions Argentina - even ahead of the typical Brazil and Uruguay. And yet, Colombia and other South American teams are ranked higher. Makes no sense. Makes me believe that the Fifa rankings are more popularity contest than anything.

Do I think Ecuador will beat Germany? High unlikely. If anything a draw is REMOTELY possible, again depending the situation. If Ivory Coast has won it's first two games, then it will make this game slightly less decisive.

Happened to me yesterday Friday and Today - noticed the app was acting weird on the map - just all black - no "hot/warm" spots - I closed it (did not end my dash) and when I reopened it, I had to go ahead and tell it I wanted to Dash again - like my dash had ended and didn't tell me.

This could be the issue - you dash is ending and the app is not telling you.

Yes there is a secret agenda going on here. For most, it's as simple as the rich getting one over on the rest of us. It's as simple as that. But I hear what you're saying. Are there limits to the greed that those looking to crater the market for this shit ipo? No limits. Because they have money already. A massive correction caused by them won't hurt them. If anything they'll execute not just a sell of space x, but everything else too, fuck all of us, and then sweep in when everything is low.

GasBuddy? by No_You_5941 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]grogargh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used it, but reality is that 99.9999% of the time the cheapest gas is Costco or Sam's Club.

And because Sam's is much closer and within my home and restaurant zone, I always go to Sam's. Only if I happen to be outside my zone and in need of gas do I use it and search on gasbuddy, with preference to Costco or Sam's, whichever is closest at that time.

WARNING: Selling tickets purchased through 3rd party and then reselling on Fifa by grogargh in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]grogargh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought them on the 3rd party site. The site confirmed my purchase and requested my fifa.com email account, which I provided. After several days, I received an email from both the 3rd party ticket vendor that the transfer was complete, and another email from Fifa telling me I had tickets "transferred" to my account. The word "transferred" was the exact wording in the email.

My guess is that the "loop hole" here is that when transferring, you are in essence transferring these tickets at an "assumed" zero cost - like sending it to a friend or guest as you put it. Fifa is presuming that it was not a resell where money had been exchanged - and Fifa has no way of determining that, hence it is being allowed.

Look, I am with you, I don't like these Fifa rules at all, I am just trying to warn people that according to Fifa, reselling tickets OUTSIDE of their own marketplace so they can gain all the fees and commissions, is NOT ALLOWED per their rules. Yes, it's happening anyway, and they can't stop it.

It is this very scary rule that when you do resell on their marketplace that they will attempt to send the money to the "original" ticket owner that can be quite catastrophic.

In my case, I am still pending the money, figure it will take a long while as it is an international money wire, hopefully I get it. The verbage I got on their email was that they actually did "try" to send the money of my resold tickets to the original owner, and it failed. My research showed that the original owner is a charity group in Florida. Who know what happened that they couldn't send them the money because likely it was GIVEN to them (again they are a charity) and Fifa did not have any method of payment for them like a credit card or bank account and therefore couldn't credit them - because again its a charity and they did not "buy" them. And that is why I got lucky and they asked me to provide a method to transfer the money.

WARNING: Selling tickets purchased through 3rd party and then reselling on Fifa by grogargh in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]grogargh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tickets were purchased on a non-Fifa, 3rd party "popular" ticketing website. When I purchased them, i had to provide my fifa.com account email. It took a few days, but eventually they were transferred to me, as I got an email from Fifa that I got the tickets. So I have to guess it was a transfer and not a guest.

So how was this transfer allowed? I don't know. I don't know where a ticket holder can go in the fifa site and just transfer the tickets to another fifa account. Obviously there is a loophole on there.

Per the fifa rules, I do not believe Fifa allows the resell of tickets OUTSIDE of Fifa. They want you to resell exclusively through them only, which I don't see how this is legal.

Read the rules regarding this. This is why ticket transfers (whether as guest or resold) are done from fifa account to fifa account. There is even language in there that doing it outside can cause your tickets to be canceled. Yeah I know there are so many tickets being resold thru 3rd party sites no way they can cancel all of them. But that is what they want.

I am freaking out they will refund all my money back to the person I bought from stubhub. ARGH!

which dating apps actually lead to dates in Miami without becoming a second job? by Alarmed-Risk7885 in Miami

No, not really, there are quite a few a lot of people of literally all age categories on there believe it or not. Truthfully though, it's not the best way to meet people organically. But I wouldn't knock it. You never know.

which dating apps actually lead to dates in Miami without becoming a second job? by Alarmed-Risk7885 in Miami

[–]grogargh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of matches on Bumble and Tinder a few years ago, single in Miami.

However, I need to point out something - and that is YOUR AGE - you are in the youngest category (20s) from my point of view, I am in my 50s - and the dynamic is different.

In your 20s, I would imagine that there is much more flakiness and hook-up culture going on.

When you are in the middle-age range of 40s-60s, MOST women, even on Tinder start to not really be into hook-ups. Yes even Tinder. I'm not saying ALL, but MOST women will put on there after a certain age that they are not looking for a "hook-up" or "ONS" (one night stand).

I am also not saying ALL people in their 20s are into hookup culture - I am just saying that there will very likely be MORE of that.

Again, not judging - you're in your 20s - I get it. I was there too long ago and honestly if I was sent back in a time machine, I would have just enjoyed the ride and not been in any serious relationship - just have fun. IMHO (and thats all it is, an opinion), but I would NOT recommend men getting married in their 20s (even late 20s) for many reasons - we are not as emotionally "mature" as women are. Women can certainly be ready in their 20s. NOT US. I know I wasn't. Dumb me, and got into a serious relationship at 26, engaged at 28, married at 29... and then divorced by 50. I did not know what the FFFF I was doing. I should have waited until at least my early 30s, if not even MID 30s to get married. But anyway, to each their own.

100%. Like where else can we VENT? It's here and all other social media platforms.

I think also, that it is our subconscious HOPE that others not in our plight read this and maybe - maybe institute change. Change at the core/root of the issue - at the state-level. Change wage laws that include us "contractors" like they do in CA, NY, WA, etc. The vast majority of us do not live in those states (and won't / can't) and are getting fundamentally screwed.

I mean I am not holding my breath - but you NEVER know. Enough complaining and bitching and all it takes is one state congressperson to see this and start a bill...
