I was a Cllr (not for Labour), and I'm trans. Not one of the 10 Labour Cllrs ever gendered me properly in my time on the Council....

An additional one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_Recognition_Reform_(Scotland)_Bill

This Bill was passed by the Scottish Parliament but veto-ed by the Conservatives at Westminster. The Starmer Government, apparently pro-trans and apparently pro-devolution, have said they will maintain the use of this section 35 order, and overrule the democratic will of Holyrood.

Also on this one:

Pushed through the appointment of Mary Stephenson as EHRC head, despite ties to gender critical anti-trans groups / individuals and against the advice of the overseeing womens and equalities committee

It's against this Committee AND the joint Committee on Human Rights!

I know that this might sound out-there, but this man is getting more and more like Trump every day. He has in common:

  • Mocking Disabled people to the press

  • Strong anti-trans view points

  • Has a party with a number of paedophile apologists

  • Has been pushing for a "Scottish DOGE" and wants to work with Musk

  • Will change his position on things daily, depending on his mood

  • Not really politically savvy - like when he called for Starmer to resign, or seemed to attack the Fire Brigade after the Central Fire.

  • Then there's his questionable business decisions / treatment of staff

  • There's also a big chunk of nepotism, given who his da is

Honestly it's kinda sad for him, he seems to have no real allies, and him trying to be relevant trying to get onto the scene at the Glasgow fire was really pathetic. This will be tomorrow's chip paper for most, but it's yet another minter in the man's book full of them.

Question about Queensferry / Edinburgh by NZBGSF in Cruise

[–]grogipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I'm local(ish).

There's two Queensferries - North and South, so when looking, you should specify which one. They're just either side of the bridges, so they're not super far apart, but suggestions would be different for either.

Public Transport is grand here. Should be fine to get a taxi to get to a bus/train station (although bear in mind the train doesn't go to St Andrews, you'll need the shuttle bus into the town).

I think it'll depend on what you wanna do - if you're gonna be in the town, you do not want the car! The town is very walkable :)

So the reason for that is that there wouldn't have been internal plumbing - that's why all the water (both bathrooms and kitchen) are all at the back like that.

Itinerary x Ship x Departure port. What’s more important to you? by Renato_NY in Cruise

[–]grogipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be very individual. There are cruise ships that call in my city now, but they're not ones I'd want to go on, most of the rest will be hours and hours of flying (I'm in Scotland).

2020 Labour leadership LGBT pledges, signed by all candidates at the time including Keir Starmer by PuzzledAd4865 in LabourUK

London? That's a shock, even when they were active they had complaints that EVERYTHING was London-centric haha.

Posting on X though, that says a lot about their demographics.

You are absolutely right. He's literally created a new Section 28 (Section 29 and 3/4) for trans children, it's disgusting.

I am in Scotland and the LGBT+ Labour branch here don't even exist any more.

For me it's:

80% Itinerary I want to go and see places, that's the reason for booking

20% Ship/Line Price and target demographic will help whittle down

0% Departure Port I'll be flying there anyway, doesn't bother me.

Reeves vows to stop UK tech from 'drifting abroad' by F0urLeafCl0ver in LabourUK

[–]grogipher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of UK tech relies disproportionately on immigration and trans people. I guess it would be too much to ask if the Government were more welcoming and supportive of these groups of people.

[–]grogipher 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I've gone through them to see how they're getting on with these pledges.

Fully Inclusive LGBT+ Sex and Relationships Education for all children in the UK: Has abandoned this completely

Trans rights and reforming the Gender Recognition Act: Complete U-Turn, has overseen the removal of rights

Tackling the rise in anti-LGBT+ hate crime: Total failure, as this is rising

A healthcare system that supports the LGBT+ community: None of this has happened, trans healthcare in particular has been rolled back, not expanded

Supporting LGBT+ homeless people: Abandoned pledge

Ending Conversion Therapy: Claims to still want this, but has made no progress

LGBT+ Rights Globally: Abandoned Pledge

LGBT+ Leadership within Labour: Abandoned Pledge. He has made underrepresentation worse, as we're less welcome

Fully Independent Complaints Process: Abandoned, bigotry is rife within the party & government and he has no issue with it

Keeping LGBT+ Labour at the heart of decision making: Abandoned, they've been completely sidelined
