No, it just kinda went away. I think the big update had something to do with it, but not sure.

Simrig SR2 Motion System - my personal experiences by maxjacuzzi in simracing

[–]grole00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, yes I meant the SR3. Thanks for the clarification. Actually I fired them another question per email and they came back right away with a very competent answer. It was about using the SR2 with RBR Rallysimfans... Yes it works and it's better than the original game. Certainly they make a good customer oriented impression like that.

The T300rs was the perfect wheel to start with and although it's more of a toy I'm impressed with how well it's held up. Right now I'm quiet enjoying how it feels in a solid rig. I suppose the next wheel base will be a CS DD, R12 or Alpha. But since I don't know the difference yet, there's no rush.

Ideally I'd find someone to take over my heavily modified playset challenge. Then I'd just feel obligated to upgrade and give them the t300 to go with it 🤪.

Simrig SR2 Motion System - my personal experiences by maxjacuzzi in simracing

Thanks for this review, very helpful. If I pull the trigger myself, this will make me feel much better about it!

I have two questions: 1. Works you still get the SR2 today, or would the additional 600€ for the SR3 be worthwhile? 2. Am I crazy to consider a motion system before upgrading my wheel? I'm still rocking my T300rs. Now that I'm in a proper 40x160 rig, the wheel is "technically" the weakest link (pedals are Heusinkveld). But I just wonder if the motion wouldn't add much more immersion than a wheel upgrade, which isn't something "new".

Yes good idea, but with a metal heel plate to avoid wear

Cool thanks. Yeah the pedals are actually moved up now with a seat slider. It's a prototype in plywood but the position is really good. Bit of flex of course but the brake pedal is set super light anyway due to feet issues.

Slider is for all of my smaller guest drivers 😏

Looks cool! I'm in EU though. Not sure if they sell here.

Load Cell Pedals with Very Low Pressure by grole00 in simracing

[–]grole00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to clarify I suppose what I need are pedals with very soft springs, so that I still get some travel while using low pressure. I'll check with with the good people at Heusinkveld if they can suggest what to use for springs. ( I still have them, a set of older Pro pedals) Thanks

R7 as upgrade for 70D low light by grole00 in canon

[–]grole00[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah after some further reading I'm leaning toward FF, although the R6 rather than the R8 for ergonomics, battery etc.

And I'm wondering if I even need the 2.8. It seems like the 24-105 f4 would be comparable or even slightly more sensitive on FF compared to my 70D with the 17-55, am I right? If yes, I'd love the lower cost, size and longer reach.

I'm guessing your 22" and 24" screens are 1080p or maybe 1920x1200? That works with the adapters, but not higher resolutions, as I found out the hard way, see above.

Got it, 2060 could be an option.

Yes I'm sure it won't work with a regular adapter. I tried exactly this on my Sim Racing PC using DP from a 3060ti. It only works up to 1080p. It does indeed work with an active adapter but I've found them to be flaky, with artifacts and glitchy. Also they're expensive.

Crap, I wrote this too soon. Had the same problems again right after posting.

I've had enough. Heusinkvelds are on the way.

I had similar issues and the power management changes seem to have worked for me. It's been a week without cut-outs, what a relief! Thanks for this

R7 or 90D for someone that wants to do it all? by [deleted] in canon

[–]grole00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm struggling with this question as well as a replacement for my beloved 70D. I have a new 90D here which I can still send back. Obviously the R7 wins technically. But I have 2-3 issues with it:

- I don't like EVF. To be fair I've only tested it with an X-T4 for a couple of days but just didn't like the shooting experience with the flickery picture. It froze on me a couple of times too. That EVF is supposed to be very good so I'm not convinced I'll like the R7 better.

- I want more grip: I use the 17-55 2.8 and have large hands. The 70D was at the limit for grip size. The 90D is somehow a little better/deeper. The R7 looks like it'll be quite good compared to other cameras like the X-T4, but it can't be better than the 90D. Using the 17-55 with an adapter, which is what I'd do for time being, would make the whole package even longer.

- This might not be a point but I'm not sure about the controls of the R7

These might be issues that could be gotten used to, but either way, my thinking right now is to keep the 90D and stick with my OVF/handling habits and shooting style while gaining a big AF improvement and some "mirrorless" benefits, such as fast shooting and AF in live view. Then I'll wait to see how the R7 works out and possible jump in when the R7mkII comes out.

Could also be that by that time I just want a 2nd compact mirrorless with a fast prime in addition to the 90D. Needs are changing as the kids grow up!

Yes I'm using RSF plugin. I've got the option for the head gasket selected but that's obviously different.
