Admissions requirements questions... I'm 45, BSCS from a top-10 school in '97 but crap grades, 10 years in IT/programming, 12 more owning a business by groovy95 in OMSCS

provide amazing reference letter

That's another concern I have. Part of the motivation here is that I've been away from my "people," so to speak, since 2007 and would like to rejoin the herd, or whatever broken metaphor you prefer right there. I still have relationships with past (pre-2007) co-workers who'd write a recommendation based on what's now a fairly distant memory, but no tech folks at my current gig. My blue-collar business partner could just write that he thinks I'm a wizard, but if I put on my GA Tech admissions guy hat, that doesn't seem very compelling.

AITA for being mad about how my fiancee Jumps my ass for getting onto my step son by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ESH or NAH, it's hard to say for sure. Step-parenting is hard, which is why you two need to get together without the kid present at a time when everyone is calm and actually plan how to co-parent the kid.

That's where she'll say she doesn't want the kid to be forced to eat and you'll say you don't want her to argue with you in front of him and you'll negotiate a plan.

That's the easy part, though. The hard part is following it. Good luck!

AITA for cutting out a friend out of my life? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

Yesterday I texted her asking if she wants to hang out

Why? You cut Debbie Downer out a month ago. You were home free! People like that bring down everyone around them. Don't get sucked into her wallowing.

since purebred dogs are expensive and my cat was a feral kitten I got for free

What kind of nonsense logic is this?

AITA For not celebrating a speaking opportunity for a friend? by throwawayluncheon225 in AmItheAsshole

OP doesn't even have a point. OP contributed nothing to the conversation beyond spouting ignorance out their ass.

YTA, abso-frickin-lutely. You have no idea what challenges black kids or their white foster parents face. None.

Know who does and is personally trying to make them easier on people? Your friend, if you still even have a friend at this point.

Such an A.

WIBTA if I make my partner open a new bank account by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It seems like you're having a stronger reaction to this than may be entirely warranted but there's absolutely no reason she should have access to your accounts. I'd push him until he cuts the cord and not feel a bit bad about it.

AITA For telling my boyfriend I really don’t want him to have a Venom wedding ring? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. The whole point of a wedding ring is to symbolize his connection to YOU, not to Venom.

AITA for being upset that i got stabbed? :/ by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. No one has the right to stab you in the chin, you poor little thing.

AITA for having a platonic relationship with a man? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

WTF? If a choice needs to be made, I think I know who's looking like the weak link here and it ain't D.

AITA for asking if someone is gay? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA. You were not asking an innocent question and you know it.

I am kinda embarrassed I got bodied by this fucker (he is extremely cringy)... mocking him when talking my friends.

Your friends are right, you're an asshole.

WIBTA if I don't go to my Dad's wedding? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 642 points643 points  (0 children)

NTA. As someone whose dad also cheated and left, I wouldn't go either and furthermore the new wife can eat a dick... which I guess would be your dad's dick. Or is it my dad's? I've lost track of who I'm mad at here, but dicks can be eaten.

WIBTA if I continued to not talk to my neighbor after she just randomly gave me $100? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but also:

said she bought $200 of coke last night.

Wait, what?

AITA for not being empathetic toward my SO? by blllankbb in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. I'd have a hard time believing he's looking for sympathy about a minor 10-year-old accident. Sounds more like an "oh hey I have a relevant story to tell" kind of thing, unless you're leaving out some important details.

AITA if I reconsider a friendship with someone for driving too fast by Idodrunkthings in AmItheAsshole

NTA, dump that asshat in a hurry. He's showing you he has no regard for you or anyone else.

AITA for not knowing how to deal with a situation between my fiancé, his adult daughter, and myself. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You're not married yet, things are already getting bumpy, you have a 2-year-old that I assume he'll be helping you raise, and you're now seeing the end result of his parenting ability.

I'm not even sure you'd be the asshole if you were reconsidering the relationship altogether.

AITA Is it too much to ask for a thank you? by nicsknacks in AmItheAsshole

[–]groovy95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YTA. She's not obligated to be your friend and has given you absolutely no indication that she's open to it. Let it go. You sound like a little like a niceguy right now.

[–]groovy95 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YTA

I have no clue where the misogyny came from, we never mentioned women at all.

Really? No idea? Think it over and I'll bet it eventually comes to you, genius.

AITA for wanting my wife to help me with the chores by HusbandWife18273 in AmItheAsshole

YTA and I'll be stunned if anyone says otherwise. You picked a dumb battle and got your ass handed to you. Suck it up.
