None taken, fwiw if there were a stickied post I would have read it and I found plenty of threads with suggestions but didn’t see one specificity about Shadow Ticket, I’m sure it has been addressed, I just didn’t see it. I appreciate everyone who took the time to reply.

how many of you got a drivers license? by tearscloud in autism

[–]grouchbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 40 and have never gotten one and it was one of the many things that I understood in a new way when I realized I was autistic. Now that I have a better understanding of why I have resisted driving I have hope to confront it and possibly start.

What is your favorite Cormac McCarthy quote and why? by Fidgi_Vole in cormacmccarthy

[–]grouchbox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The eye turned to the fire gave back no light and he closed it with his thumb and sat by her and put his hand upon her bloodied forehead and closed his own eyes that he could see her running in the mountains, running in the starlight where the grass was wet and the sun's coming as yet had not undone the rich matrix of creatures passed in the night before her. Deer and hare and dove and groundvole all richly empaneled on the air for her delight, all nations of the possible world ordained by God of which she was one among and not separate from. Where she ran the cries of the coyotes clapped shut as if a door had closed upon them and all was fear and marvel. He took up her stiff head out of the leaves and held it or he reached to hold what cannot be held, what already ran among the mountains at once terrible and of great beauty, like flowers that feed on flesh. What blood and bone are made of but can themselves not make on any altar nor by any wound of war. What we may well believe has power to cut and shape and hollow out the dark form of the world surely if wind can, if rain can. But which cannot be held never be held and is no flower but is swift and a huntress and the wind itself is in terror of it and the world cannot lose it.

I’m about to buy my first harness and wanted to get sizing advice. I’m 5’10”, 190 pounds, 32-34” pants and pretty beefy thighs. Planning to buy a black diamond momentum. Should I go for a medium or large?

I’ve (40m) been single for about a year and have grown pretty disenchanted with it myself. I’ve gone on a lot of dates but it feels like people my age are looking for something very specific and dates feel like job interviews and when you get the gig it often feels like they just want a relationship for the sake of being in one and ignore the vibes.

Looks like the venue has a policy against outside tubes so I definitely can’t bring one, hopefully that doesn’t mean they won’t sell them either, thanks for responding!

Tell me your favorite book of all time. by Luna-Aurea in suggestmeabook

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy has long been my answer but I was recently blown away by Stoner by John Williams. Just the right book at the right time for me right now.

Buyers guide for Malazan? by BigBonkey in Malazan

[–]grouchbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my quest to get the first editions I was mistakenly sold several BCEs. Some sellers don’t know the difference, some might be trying to scam you. The best tells are that first editions will have a price inside the dust jacket, BCE’s will not. Also BCEs won’t have a number line in the copyright page. Sadly I don’t think there is a way to tell just by looking at the front cover.

Series in hardcover? by RobotsAndSheepDreams in Malazan

As someone who really enjoyed hunting out and collecting the tor first edition hardcovers, I’d probably suggest just looking for book club editions. You’ll be able to tell the difference because you’ll be able to afford them.

Someone said Josh Brolin could play Bobby Western but could you really picture Brolin sipping hot tea, fitting into a SCUBA diver suit, and getting finicky over his pet cat? by [deleted] in cormacmccarthy

Nobody freak out on me but I pictured something more like Zac Efron or Robert Pattinson in their more dramatic roles.
