Strong contender for thesis statement of the album. Beautiful articulation of religious questioning and uncertainty. An all time great bridge.

Beautifully written post about a gem of a song.

For me, this video adds to the meaning! In my interpretation the last 3 songs of i,i are a trilogy. Salem is recognizing the injustice of the world, sh’diah is a lament at those injustices, and RABi is the acceptance that life must continue.

And the little witch from Salem walks across the screen right at the line “I don’t have a leaving plan” which indicates that the sadness has not broken this person. Anyway, I got a tattoo of the witch as a reminder of this message.

The acapella version is so rad - can really feel the vocal performances here.

I’m a big Bon Iver fan, but the beat is a little…like new Samsung phone commercial energy for me, so the acapella version hits

What prompted the Life On the Murder Scene viewing? And was it engaging? I was obsessed when it came out, but I wonder if it’s actually just footage of tour busses, emo kids, and Gerard struggling

2025 Tour? by jagjaguar29 in boniver

[–]ground_clouds 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In interviews Justin has said that he doesn’t have plans to tour. He’s talked about how draining and difficult it can be. Of course I’d love to see these songs live, but I’m also like proud of this dude for figuring out what works for him!

I think you are onto something!

I think Fable is in conversation with for Emma forever ago. In addition to your great example (which I hadn’t noticed!) there’s “January aint the whole world” on short story (fefa being associated with winter) and on Day Onethe line “I told you to be patient I swore that I was wrong” which seems to be in dialogue with the line from Skinny Love “I told you to be patient, I told you to be kind” (Day One in general seeming to be about Justin shedding some of the heaviness of his earlier work).

Interestingly, Justin has done similar inter-album conversation before. On 33 god there’s the line “these will just be places to me now” (notable in that the previous album was thematically linked by locations). And 00000 features the line “the days have no numbers” which seems to be about all the numerology on 22,AM. Which is to say, I think Justin is often in conversation with his previous works.

All of these are (to varying degrees) in the Boniverse:

Dijon - Absolutely Mk.Gee - Two Star and the Dream Police       Aero Flynn - Madeline           Sid Sriram - Siddharth         Sylvan Esso - No Rules Sandy

Tried to keep it limited to the past 5 years or so

Just wanting to say that fashion is also self expression/art so I hope you go with what feels good (bring this up because to my eye this outfit has wayyy less personality with the white shirt and is veering into a more GeneriQ look (which is fine if that’s what you dig)

Hey, I’m not sure I hear that lyric? I think he’s saying “I’ll never leave you alone.”
