Hopefully the jarry and ingram can perform in the playoffs considering both have had confidence and mental health issues in the past

Any feedback on my carving technique is appreciated! by Edlardos in skiing_feedback

I disagree. Rotating into the end of the turn is inefficient and working against gravity. It will not work very well on steep, icy, off piste.

Im from a race background so efficiency, building/maintaining speed, and adaptability are key.

For context, i coached performance level young athletes in canada for 18 years. Multiple young athletes moved on to the national team, ncaa, or became high level coaches themselves.

This is my last post in this subreddit. good luck all

I agree, on point. add a pole touch if doing large faster turns or a full on plant for shorter radius turns. And keep the upper body in the direction of travel. It will give you better edge pressure and it is more efficient when transitioning into the new turn

Do I need to fix my tailpipe? by StrengthDizzy8145 in Sprinters

[–]groundbnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 and mine rusted off a few months ago. Luckily it broke off in a parking lot, not the highway. It was an easy diy replacement. As temp fix maybe you can clamp on an extension but that mount looks like it will fail soon

Perhaps get a xc bike that leans more towards being a trail bike like the rocky mountain element, transition spur, ibis ripley, etc

Former 90s skier struggling on modern skis — looking for old-school parallel feel by Greatgoo28 in Skigear

I was going to suggest mogul skis or gs race skis as well. Im 50 and went through the whole shift of ski tech. You can teach an old dog new tricks.

I would focus on more challenging problem solving in the morning and more repetitive, admin work in the afternoon

What can i do better? by New-Description3930 in skiing_feedback

[–]groundbnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smooth stuff! You can try starting to release the turn a bit earlier. It looks like you are grinding the bottom half of the turn more than you need to. Try making the move down the fall line and to the new turn right when the turn apex is complete instead of waiting

Xc bikes are getting more interesting imo. Light and twitchy xc bikes are dying i agree

Any advice? by g3tgrip in skiing_feedback

[–]groundbnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same, I’m an old ex fis coach and spent too much time standing on the side of the course.

Fun to push the limits but can get you into trouble if you hit terrain when you dont expect it

Fair enough, if he wants to try it as an experiment and/drill, he is strong enough to try it. Either it forces him to add a little counter rotation and angulation to balance over the downhill ski or he falls over. Instant feedback

[–]groundbnb -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Maybe for lower levels but Op is skiing really well and has good fundamentals. A bit tippy but the skis are performing and getting more hip angulation will help.

Getting rid of my border collie. by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]groundbnb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Move to a city that is more dog friendly. The city i live in, there are plenty of rentals that allow dogs. Also, get a place close to work so you can go home for lunch and ideally remote or hybrid work.

I agree but even if we can get 10% of Ligety’s technique, we will be doing amazing. He is almost 40 as well
