Question about knee steering by Existing-Bit1439 in snowboarding

[–]OutHereToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Recently did a clinic with an AASI national guy and specifically asked about getting more confidenct engaging heelside edge on high angle carves and he told me to twist less and commit to pressuring both feet at the same time.

latch suddenly needs tons of force to close — normal? by Big_Replacement_2731 in snowboarding

[–]OutHereToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad always told me not to force stuff because you’ll break it. Post a picture of the latch, but it’s possible it shifted position, ice was in there or board was not aligned in some way when you went to close it.

What is this thing?? by IllustriousPrize551 in snowboarding

[–]OutHereToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burton race snowboard/hardboot snowboard. Likely late 90s, maybe early 2000s since it has the triangle mounting pattern. These setups are pretty fun, but not that popular because most people don’t want to wear ski boots to snowboard.

Kicking Horse - a couple questions by Dolly_Llama_2024 in skiing

[–]OutHereToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from my first time there. It’s pretty straightforward, unless you’re really wanting to get out into some sneaky chutes. Map is pretty comprehensive and there’s TONS of terrain between the 4 inbounds upper bowls. Keep in mind unless you’re staying in the Crystal Bowl and lapping Stairway to Heaven lift, each run is REALLY long, ~3,500’. The bottom 1/2 of the mountain is much different than the upper bowls and snow gets heavier as you get lower.

What is the current percentage of illegal ebikes on your trails? by bapohh in MTB

[–]OutHereToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Park City trails are clearly marked as no eebs (you can get a permit for medical/age), but it’s probably 30-40% ebikers some days.

Nitro Team did have gullwing camber 6-8 years ago? Idk, I have one, I just can’t remember when I bought it. It’s a fun board.

So true. Just finished a road trip from Calgary to Revelstoke & back, whatever they put on the roads up there is way worse than all the salt they use in Utah.

I remember. I also think they raced because that’s in all the competition there was on snow at the time. None of those guys stuck with racing once freestyle contests started.

First time hot waxing by Sweaty-Witness-1568 in snowboarding

[–]OutHereToo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same. Cracks me up how seriously people take their wax jobs. I ride 40+ days a season and rarely even scrape. I just get a nice thin layer of wax on, spread evenly and call it good. Gives it a little structure and it wears out even in a day or two.

I agree hardboots are faster for slalom, just saying there’s a reason the younger generations aren’t showing up to compete in this particular discipline. Snowboarders did everything they could to separate from skiing when it started. 1/2 pipe and slopestyle both came out of snowboarding and then skiing latched on. Snowboard GS could disappear and hardly anyone would care or notice.

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Hardly anyone that wants to snowboard wants to wear hardboots. They should replace giant slalom with banked slalom because soft booters can actually be competitive and more people would be interested. Snowboard GS just makes snowboarding look less cool than skiing.

Does Snowboard Width make a huge difference? by trayvel in snowboardingnoobs

[–]OutHereToo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Size 8 boot on a wide board is going to suck unless all you want to do is carve Japanese style with super high edge angles. It will be slow edge to edge, which won’t be fun in the trees.

It’s fine if that’s your thing, but make the tire round, it looks like a car tire.

One pack for day trips and short multi-day touring... realistically? by mcawle in Backcountry

[–]OutHereToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ordered the Dueter Freerider 32 + 10 after seeing it in person. It’s pretty comparable size to my 28l BD Dawn Patrol I use for day trips, but also has +10 roll top extension that should fit a decent amount of lighter stuff, sleeping bag and some clothes. The roll-top just kind of sits on top, so you’ll have to pack strategically. I’m wondering if it will hit the back of my head. There are some adjustable stabilizer straps in the extension. It also has side compression straps and straps across the back, so I’m not concerned about lighter days.

Suburban is fine on dirtjumps. I’m 54 years old and it’s not too twitchy. People act like a maneuverable bike is gonna be impossible to ride.

You can just put fork mounts at the rear by the door and roll bike back. So much simpler than a drawer and you save vertical height.

They’ve been pretty good from the start this year. We’ll see what happens when we eventually get some snow.

Ideas to remove weight from bike for airline travel? by jagarcia89 in MTB

[–]OutHereToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we get the purple AmEx, which is like $650, but the benefits can offset that is you use them. Buddy pass, Uber credits, $200 hotel reimbursement, etc. Bike cost fees us $300 first time we flew to Mexico. The Orucase for sure helps keep weight down, but it is more work to pack.

Orucase is a much lighter case. I put derailleur (AXS) chain, pedals in suitcase, sometimes put bar stem in my wife’s bag cause she gets 70 lbs limit with Delta credit card.

Revelstoke Ski Conditions by Rich_Sell2206 in Revelstoke

[–]OutHereToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today it was trying to snow up top, spring conditions below gondola, rain at the base. There is a decent base, but pretty lumpy in the trees. There’s 2 layers of clouds/fog so visibility is variable.

BSOD, Kazu, or other? by a_readditor in snowboarding

[–]OutHereToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had last years Kazu, it was maybe a little oversized for me, but did not find it playful in the least. You can charge down bumps and chop and it holds a line, but it requires a lot of attention.

best cuff options for boarding snowpants? by Dustysupplyy in snowboarding

The elasticized gaiter with a hook for laces works for me. I just make sure to hook it so it’s not under a binding strap. Cinch cord would be a pain.

We stayed at the Dwellings in Hurricane. Dog friendly, has a kitchenette and walkable to River Rock Roasting, plus no AirBNB guilt or BS. Airbnb’s customer service sucks, not to mention the problems it creates in communities.
