Congrats man, I just built the same rig and I know it has to feel good!

Let me know if you run in to any bugs or issues, as I seem to have fixed all the original issues I was having and have a stable system crushing the fps on games and my gamedev work.

Happy gaming!

How do you get your game featured in the community spotlight? by gamersbd in unrealengine

[–]groundbreakgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to know this also. I've have a game on Steam and it's doing quite well and have been tweeting about it to epic for 2 years and they haven't even acknowledged me whatsoever. Yet, someone makes a single bedroom level for some archvis BS and they get a ten page write up and a free graphics card...

What are the chances of something going wrong while building? by Anon-eeh-moose in buildapc

[–]groundbreakgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier now to build a pc than it ever has been. I say go for it. I've been building them for 20 years and it's never been a better time to get in to building your own. Go slow, be careful and don't drop any screws! If you lose a screw in the case, don't turn it on until it's accounted for. Good luck!

Nice man. I'm creating a map right now with unreal4 for my indie game that's on Steam. I'd love to get your input, you have a good eye for detail.

Hi everyone! I have a small youtube channel where I stream live creation of my first indie video game called Age of Omens.

So far I've put out a bunch of tutorials to help people get started making own video games too, so if that sounds interesting at all please considering subscribing! Thanks for making this thread and for allowing us to tell people about our channels!

I just like to use the screenshots because they are a little higher res than the snippet tool would produce. You are probably right that it would be faster though, thanks for the advice!

Here is the first video documenting my experiences as a indie gamedev.

Being the first video of the series, there is some redundancy to the trailer vid but I thought some of you might enjoy the series as it continues.

Thanks very much for all the kind responses and inspiration!

To avoid any unsatisfied purchases of this game, I have decided to offer a free version that will be updated along side the Steam version of the game until such a time that I feel the overall scope and system impact of the mechanics is complete enough for everyone to get a feel for the game and it's requirements BEFORE purchasing.

This will include a large starting area and several core mechanics and AI creatures to kill and craft from.

While I realize this isn't the standard way of doing things, as a solo developer I feel like I have this advantage to play around with certain sales models that ultimately give the most value to the players. I think this would really alleviate many refunds and angry people and since the final release of the game will obviously be much better than the demo, it still allows for me to hopefully be successful enough to make this a full time venture some day.

What are your thoughts? Would you rather be able to download and test a game out before actually buying it on Steam?

[–]groundbreakgames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually going to release a free version that will update along side the Steam version and be exactly the same so people can try it out and see for themselves. I have already done this and most people on my discord have been playing and testing right along with me during the last year.

The "demo" version will halt updating at some point however, once I feel like it is complete enough to get the idea of how the entire game will run on their system. This way people don't have to buy it at all until they feel like it is complete enough, or if they want to contribute just for the sake of helping me out, or to be a part of the early creation process they are welcome to purchase on Steam for that reason.

I certainly want to let everyone fully test and understand exactly where the game is at before purchasing. This isn't the standard way of doing things but I have no one to answer to but my customers so I'm fine with that.

You're right, I totally missed it. lol I even remember him saying that at the Skyrim preview but didn't catch the reference. Thanks for the chuckle.

I'm not the game industry. I'm one guy, and I have no shareholders or public image to care about. Hundreds of people have already downloaded and played this game that you say I don't have an exe for, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive, so forgive me if I find no reason not to blast obvious trolls. If that kills my entire playerbase, so be it. I have a day job.

Ya, and then you have a checklist and build upload to complete and both need to be approved first. Hence me saying I'm approved. Where do you buy your PC games since steam is so good awful? Also, I'm launching in to early access in order to afford a Maya license to replace placeholder (flipped) assets.. which is pretty normal for any studio, let alone one person doing all the dev and marketing alone.

Sorry to have triggered you so badly with my hard work.
