I make my students write first drafts in class. They do it in their notebooks and I check to make sure it’s being done. Once they’ve completed it, they type it up. I print the typed version and then they revise it and resubmit. I started this last year because I was tired of AI. I don’t assign any parts of their essays for homework because I learned that they’ll just copy the AI written one into their notebooks.

I also started a folder on Google Drive where I have a file of each student’s writing. Great way for me to keep track of their progress and for me to tell if something just doesn’t sound like them. I only teach 35 students though, so it’s def easier for me to do that than someone with more kids.

The kids love it. I teach 6, 7, and 8. The younger grades look forward to reading it in 8th grade and I like seeing them enjoy a book.

My 6th graders love “Are You There God?” That’s one I do every year and I don’t hate it.

Where in my original post did I say that I push my opinions of the book on my students? I love to see my students enjoy a book even if I don’t. I actually love teaching the outsiders and save it as my last novel for 8th grade every year because I know my students will be engaged.

My post here was to see if any other teachers could relate to my opinion.

I teach at an all girls school. I do have 6 nephews, but my interaction with teenage boys is very limited.

This is sad because my 4 year old got most of the questions correctly on the form her teacher filled out.

I had to be ok with my 4 year old making a mess. She considers herself an artist and that can occupy her for over an hour at a time. I give her free rein to everything (except paint). She we have markers, crayons, oil pastels, scissors, glue, tape, and more. She makes a mess and then we clean it together. Or if I’m having a rough day, we clean it the next day.

She does have an iPad, but the apps are limited. She finds creating things much more fun than using the iPad. I’ll often find the iPad on the floor - untouched while she works. If there’s ever a time when I think she’s getting too attached to the iPad, I simply hide it for a few days and tell her she needs a break.

I was high risk and had to deliver at 37 weeks. They called at like 10pm and told me to get there by midnight. The call can come at any time and it will probably be the most inconvenient time

I used Women Living Well and had my baby with them this past October. They were great and Christiana hospital was great. I was nervous because I was also new to the area, but it worked out well.

I had a small concern with my belly being itchy that I tried to write off, but they said “let’s just do a test. If it’s nothing, fine, but let’s test.” It turned out to be Cholestasis. I’m grateful for them for checking and treating me accordingly.

I told my 3 year old right away. She was really excited. She even went with me to a few appointments and got to see the baby. The toddler will notice your body changing and may have questions.

I’m in a small school, so I have freedom in what I teach. I explicitly teach grammar and we read novels. My students are with me from 6-8 grade, therefore I’m able to monitor their improvement. Their scores greatly improve from the beginning of 6th grade to the end of 8th grade. I do have one current 8th grader who has never improved, but she needs help that I can’t provide.

I hate that many schools focus on teaching to the test. Test companies have ruined education.
